SOURCE: Recharge Auto air conditioner

I just did this for my 1994 Camry. Does your camry use the R-134A modern refrigerant? Probably.

Go to an auto parts store and buy a can of R-134A with a pressure guage included. You'll need that guage so you don't overfill the system. I bought one that allows me to save the guage and buy cheaper refills int he future.

There are two AC valves. A small one, located in the left-rear of the engine compartment, behind the strut tower, just in front of where the passenger seat is located. It might have a cap on it marked "L". This is the "Low" port, and is the one you want. The larger "H" port is up near the battery, is bigger, and is the "high" port. You don't want to use that one, and besides, it won't fit the can anyway.

Locate that low valve in the left-rear of the compartment. Take the cap off (if one is still on there). Start the engine and get it up to running temp. Turn on your AC to maximum cool, fan at maximum. Follow the directions on the can. It's pretty simple.

You'll pull back on the bushing on the refill line, and then snap it onto the valve just like you'd find on an air hose. Snap it into place, and then start refilling. Make sure the can is upside down and that you rotate and shake the can to get the coolant out effectively.

Get a Chilton repair manual and locate the service port for the AC. Step 2 turn on engine, turn AC to full blast. Use caution and connect refill hose to port. Will only fit correct port. Set dial to outside temp fill to correct level don't over charged system

Water leak by heater

If it is clear water you should check the floor drain for the air conditioner. It should be near the area where the floor and the firewall meet.

2006 Silverado went from blowing cold to hot. I think it might be the compressor but I don't want to spend 300 bucks if I don't have to any ideas???????

If your air conditioner needs recharging it is because the refrigerant chemical is leaking out of the system. Many people think that air conditioners naturally leak refrigerant, so they assume they have to take the car in every year for recharging. This is not true. The refrigerant is not supposed to leak. If the refrigerant is low, find and repair the leak. There should be no reason for a recharge.

2006 hhr 2.4 won't start after replacing both camshaft position sensors.

Did you remember to plug in the MAF sensor? Are you sure the air chamber is correctly installed on the throttle body?

The AC in my 2006 HHR only works when you turn it all the way up. Can I fix this on my own?

is the air very cold or just slightly cold? if its nice and cold then the speed switch or reisitor pack that controls the different speeds is bad. if the air is just slightly cold then your system needs a partial charg and to be checked for leaks and this is best done by the professionals even though they sell these little recharging kits at the parts stores. you have no idea what the internal pressures are which need to be fairly exact to operate correctly. you can also damage your compressor if you put too much freon in the system. also there muct be a slow leak or you wouldnt have the problem in the first place.

My air conditioner only work on high. It is clicking in on the low setting but will only work in high. We checked the two fuse panels and they are all good, what else could be the problem.

I own a 2006 HHR, had the same problem, I found water leaking onto the blower motor which caused the blower motor to fail.
I replaced the blower motor & blower motor resister. No problems. (I also fixed the water leak)
The blower motor isn't fun to replace, you have to use a box cutter knife to cut out the blower motor.
When you buy the new blower motor it will come with proper instuctions on how to cut the old one out and install the new motor.

Recharged battery on my 2006 HHR and the power steering doesn't work. I can turn my steering wheel without a fight.

Unless they have gone to electric power assist on the power steering, should be no correlation.

However, is your accessory belt for running your alternator and power steering pump ok? Is it tight enough.

While an electrical issue should not affect the power steering, a loose or missing belt could cause the (1) alternator to not properly charge the battery and (2) the power steering to not have power.
