Brakes are important, if you have no mechanical ability seek professional help to resolve this issue. Likely you have defective sensor somewhere in the system.

What is a speed sensor? and what does it do?

if your talking about vehicle speed sensor, it is the sensor that monitors how fast a vehicle is traveling by how fast a gear in the transmission is turning and converts mechanical motion into electrical pulses and sends this signal to the speedometer on the dash as well as to the computer. if your talking about wheel speed sensor this is an electrical pulse generator at each wheel that monitors wheel speed and is compared to the other wheel sensors by the abs /traction control module to check for a differential to turn on the light and or apply brakes in the case of traction control system or release hydraulic brake pressure in the case of wheel lock up.

Whatever happened, the engine computer sensed it and turned on the light. You will have to have the computer scanned for the trouble codes- a tech or mechanic could then follow the codes to find the problem.

Check Brake System light flashing and losing power

Understand there is no resetting of anything

You check for codes, write them down & if you
want to,you can clear ALL Data, basically info you
need ,that is why you write down any codes or
other info you need.

You can ask until the cow jumps over the moon,
but no one can guess or tell you what is wrong

You need to leave the car at a shop until they figure
out the issues

Light on dash came on which says "IP Brake" After 21/2 hrs. at the mechanics they couldn't figure it out except to say it has something to do with the ABS system

All your saying, is that the shop you went to, has no reference
material or data base, to even know what to check on your truck

If you have the factory manuals from Helm.com, you could possibly
figure it out

I won't guess, it is an obd1 system,pre 1996, so it can't be all
that hard

All you can do, is start to research for a shop in your area, that
that is good at everything. I would ask around for a couple weeks,
and then build a relationship for years to come.

How do I get the trac off light to go out on 2001 grand am se

I had a similar problem. Assuming you have pushed the trac button and it doesn't turn the light off.. It on the middle console. I went to AutoZone and checked the OBD code for free. Turned out I needed to replace my Throttle Position Sensor and it's fixed. Very simple to replace. Let me know if you need instruction on that.

ABS problem

i dont think changing the springs had anything to do with your abs unless the guy that installed them did something wrong.

Check first to see if your abs works.

drive fast, floor the brakes, if your tires lock... you have no abs.

IF you do have abs, find out why the light is on from a mechanic. It could lead to future abs failure, which if you want to replace the abs module, your talking about a grand.

happy hunting.
