Question about 2005 Ford Expedition
P2005 intake valve stuck open on my 2005 Ford Expedition. How do I fix this? Is there anything I can try before tearing the engine apart?
Code p2004 refers to intake manifold air control actuator-bank 1--actuator stuck open===Causes---wiring--intake manifold air control actuator---mechanical fault .I would check blockage and wire connections Then I would replace the actuator But I would not tear down the engine as it is between the air filter and the manifold. Check the air cleaner element

LOOKING IN CODE BOOK.POSSIBLE CAUSE TO YOUR PROBLEM THE IMRC COULD BE STUCK OPEN.OR THE IMRC ACTUATOR IS DAMAGED OR HAS FAILED.ALSO THE IMRC MONITOR SIGNAL CIRCUIT COULD BE SHORTED TO POWER GROUND OR SHORTED TO SIGNAL GROUND RETURN.

Look under your steering wheel right under the dash. There should be a small white strip with 5 numbers. This is your master code for your vehicle. If you bought the car used and they give you a code, they could have made their own code, but the master will override it. If this don't help, the module for the doors may be going bad.

on the passenger side of the engine you will see 2 small metal rods at the top of the engine just below the intake manifold there are little white clips that hold the rods on these clips usually break and the rods come off

This code indicates Intake Manifold Runner Control Stuck Open, Bank 1
Its hard to be very specific about a fix on this as there are a few potential fixes including the outright replacement of the intake manifold. If the Manifold Flow Valve blades are seized in the intake manifold, the manifold will have to be replaced
However this code can sometimes have a very easy fix and if you are lucky you may find that it is caused by a split vacuum hose connecting to the actuator. A leak in the vacuum system will set the code and I suggest you check this out first as a potential cause.

P2004 INTAKE AIR SYSTEM MALFUNCTION. POSSIBLE CAUSE.TEST FOR STICKING ACCELERATOR OR SPEED CONTROL CABLE TURN OFF KEY AND DISCONNECT ACCELERATOR AND SPEED CONTROL CABLE FROM THROTTLE BODY.ROTATE THE THROTTLE BODY LINKAGE TO DETERMINE.IF IT ROTATE FREELY.THE THROTTLE BODY MAY HAVE FAILED.CHECK AIR CLEANER AND AIR INLET ASSEMBLY FOR RESTRICTIONS.CHECK THE IAC MOTOR RESPONSE.IT MAY BE DAMAGED OR STICKING.CHECK PVC SYSTEM VALVE AND HOSES FOR LEAKS AND PLUGGING.CHECK FOR SIGNS OF VACUUM LEAKS IN THE ENGINE OR COMPONENTS. TEST TP SENSOR SIGNAL DUE A SWEEP TEST AT KEY ON ENGINE OFF
