Have a 1994 Jeep Cherokee Laredo it is hesitating on acceleration .there is an oxygen sensor broken and now it isn't kicking into overdrive, as it did before, I went over vacuum problems.

which engine, 4.0L in line 6, one of 5 million>? opted.
replace the 02, always fix first what you SEE is broken.
hesitation has many causes, over 50.
I;ll not guess the 50
but tell you , we use simple tools to do tests. 1 to 10 tests.
and cause is revealed. (pure physics)
ok (kicking) so it has an automatic trans, and if engine is limphome mode or transmission same, then this is normal,
normal for hard failures...
check fuses, yet?
scan it yet? opps that be first... for sure.
or if all this is confusing?, get car serviced?

(hesitation) not guessing, just common, causes.
1: engine vacuum is bouncing, (bad engine)
2: a bad TPS.
3: it's not vacuum leaks because jeeps make extra power with leaks. (facts of speed density systems) (MAP based engine)
4: never tuned up this decade.
5: engine is misfiring for any reason.
6: engine bogging, low fuel pressure.
7: bad gas.
8: ASD relay dropping out and back in fast? scan it.
9: bad 02 sensor. oops.. may cause rich misfire...

best? (cars are complex as are engine and trans controls)
post all symptoms , good or bad.
what works and not. ?
parked, idling and driving?
cold engine and hot.? both fail?
engine power loss?
engine bogs or hesitates.?
trans shifts wrong (say exactly what gear)?
noises. odd.?
if you ever had a full tuneup this decade.?
like that, your mech sees all this in 15min work
we can't.

Hesitation at low rpm

which G16 engine, 8valve 16v? black top or silver top
the 16v shouts, electronic EFI on top.

i bet you did classic error #1, never replacing the cam belt
it slips and you see spark timing way off and then retime the distrib.
now its double bad.(wrong)

No tools?
compression, over 150PSI ? wide open throttle time 4?
if that is good the belt has not slipped yet.
the open hood, look up, see that EPA sticker there with spark timing
in clear print, now set the timing using the timing freeze jumper.
to spec. using a real tool called a timing light.
btw, timing never drifts off, unless the belt is bad. or someone guessed.
that is what is first. and fueling is last.
The ECu controls timing all the time, setting it wrong is one of the
biggest lies you can input to any ECU on any car.
it assumes its correct and advances from there. so dont set it wrong.

tell 8v/16v engine and help is 100x better. i promise.

Dizzy timing, 101

the EGR must not leak or the engine will stall. sitting advance to hide
bad EGR is overthe top wrong.

the tbelt fast test ,

the spark timing freeze jumper

does it have full power up hills. WOT?
WOT power is 100% ok so........
is the hesitation only for an instant, then recovers.
yes, bad TPS.
or TPS idle switch bad or calibrated wrong.
or needs the 60k mile tuneup. spark /filters /belt (cam)

the bog page. links to all possible

is the crank pulley 17mm head bolt , at 94ft/lbs
if not it will mangle the key way fast. end of life , crankshaft.
see TSB on that. on the tbelt pages.

Hard to start, dies, missing out, hesitation, low rpm take off missing out

Fuel filter clogged, weak or faulty fuel pump. Have fuel pressure checked, if its ok, then check igniton coil or module.

This car will act like its out of gas but its not i can drive it and then it will hesitate and semms like its running on 2 or 3 cly it will stay like this for a mile or so then go away and come back at...

Sure sounds like a vacume leak to me. With the hood open and the engine running in the dark look for and listen for ingtion spark, listen for vacume hissing spray a mist of water to be picked up by the vacume leak. test or have tested the fuel pressure if it's got more then 50 thou do the maintance for that mileage and see if the plugs are worn out the fuel filter stopped upor the fuel just bad ( water in it.

Not picking up gas when engine is cold, sputtering, bogging out especially when travelling uphill, Is this some sort of a sensor maybe??,the spark plugs are new. thanks

check fuel filter. it is starving for fuel. unless the fuel pump is bad. check filter first, then go from there. symtoms of a bad coolant sensor--poor cold idle, stalling, rich mixture retarded timing, slow idle speed, cold hesitation or stumble, poor fuel milage.

2000 Sonoma hesitation at between 1500 and 2000 RPM

You may have got a slug of water in the gas, try some additive and see if it will clear up. If it dosent best do a fuel pressure test, i don't know why but pumps have been known to go out just after a fill up.
