Plug in code reader and turn ignition on

Posted on Apr 28, 2013

  • terry schulz Apr 28, 2013

I would if I had one. Called around and none available. Was told that '94, '95 needed their own specific code reader. the manual says that the check engine light will flash the codes but it doesn't say how to initiate it.

Well it looks like you have to go to a dealer for the fault codes to be read or find a mechanic the specialises in Mitsubishi repairs.

My Mitsubishi colt automatic car runs fine but light comes on fault code 1867 I cleared fault but as soon as you switch off engine and back on again the light stays on again

How did you clear the fault? By using a code reader and clearing it or by disconnecting the battery? That only erased the fault from the ECM memory. That fault code is specific to Mitsubishis, so I have no idea what it means. But if the problem that set the code originally has not been corrected, it will set the code (and turn on the light) as soon as you try to use the car again.

99 expedtion abs light comes on sometimes goes away, now flasing OD light but goes awy

When the ABS light comes on the module has detected a fault with the ABS, stored a code and turned on the light. You will need a scan tool to read these codes. Most shops should have the proper tools to do this. The most common are the front ABS sensor which are part of the front hub assembly on the 4X4 model.

They may have the proper scan tool. The ABS codes are read through the OBD II port but if they do not have the ABS software then they will be unable to read the code.

When O/D light blinkg, that means there is a fault code in the computer and there is a problem with the transmission. To determine the problem the codes will need to be retrieved and diagnosed from there.

Hope this helps.

Abs fault

Sounds like a steering wheel sensor. Call Mitsubishi back and tell them that, or try a different dealer. Sensor detects the angle of the steering wheel when determining ABS operation parameters (I think)...
