Check ignition timing Check viscous fan hub if you have one as it will slip and not drive the fan at revs which you have in going up hill The temp will also be hotter at idle. Have a coolant system pressure test done and have a flow test done on the radiator to check for blocked cores.

May have a plugged catalitic conveter or muffler. So do you know which plug is #1? the very front one also make sure that you start with the number one plug slot it shold be marked with 1 then go around it, you may have damaged the plug wires when pulling them off. And Buy OEM for your toyota there are plugs that just won't run in the toyota engines also set the gap on the plugs they are never right from the store.

How do you replace a 2005 toyota celica thermostat

same as all cars.
take it out and put it back.
hehehehehehe
but at least you didnt say where is it.
this is covered 100% in the Cars FSM. buy one. and be DIY for next 10 years (avg. ownership?)
so look at rad?
see the cars engine radiator.?
see that top hose. follow it to the thermostat housing, bingo
drain all or 1/2 the coolant, (practice you learn how much) from the rad bottom plug , use a pan to catch it, keep animal away its poison.
remove housing.
pull STAT
put new stat in ,with wax side to water jackets and jiggle bleed hole
up hill. (this allows engine to burp)
put back STAT cover with sealant/gasket or with 0-ring , depends on engines size, not stated.
fill system. Rad cap hole, till full. run engine 1min, stop check fill repeat.
burp system of all air. (skills)
test system for leaks. and overheating or odd dash gauge readings

I have a 91 22re 4wd 5spd when it first starts it makes a loud clacking noise that goes away after a few seconds what is that noise my rocker arm shafts and rocker arms are in good condidion

The 22re engine was infamous for having timing chain problems where the timing chain guide and tensioner would rub on the back of the waterpump. Check your timing chain to make sure all components are operating correctly and check the back side of the water pump. If it succeeds in tearing up that water pump cover you will coolant rush into engine and water lock the motor. More damage than checking and or replacing the timing chain and components.

How to stop my toyota hi lux from overheating?

-First you have to check that all the radiator fans are running when the water temperature rise
-Then check the thermostat inside the thermostat housing, by removing it. When you soak it in the cold water, the valve should be close and when you soak it in the hot or boiled water, the valve should be open

What tempature should my 1988 22re run

operating temp should be from 195 to 215 degrees.
colder than 195 and the fuel eccon will be low.
above 220 either there is low water flow ( plugged Radiator) or poor air flow accross radiator.
At 260 you are too hot.
a stuck closed thermostst will run hot
a stuck open thermostat will run cold at high speed (50 mph)
