Plymouth Breeze 1996

My radio went dead so did the cigarette lighter. I took the radio to a shop and was told there is no way to fix due to plastic melted components. The cigarette lighter quit working when I was was messing with cell phone charger. I also cannot get parts to fix my front and back doors locks'; the air conditioning compressor fell to pieces, too. I called all over but cannot get these things. Will someone hlep?

SOURCE: 1996 plymouth breeze, leaking water pump. how

this depends on your level of mechanical expertise - it is an internal water pump, meaning you will need to disassemble the timing components to service (this is also a good time to replace the timing belt, as it needs to come off anyways and the belt is relatively inexpensive). if your vehicle has the 2.4 liter engine, there is nothing very difficult about this timing belt. however, i tend to caution people about attempting this if they are inexperienced, as reassembling the timing components incorrectly can cost you and engine. good luck!

1998 plymouth breeze, how do i remove cigarette lighter well or housing.

hi,

undo the power wires and the whole outer thing unscrews from the inner part of the thing from the back. you might have to hold the front part while you unscrew the back use two fingers or thumb in the lighter hole, you wont get shocked.you undid the wires. thats how they used to come undone.

My car cigarette lighter is not working. I have a 98 plymouth breeze and I've tried checking the fuses and its still not working. My radio and everything else works just fine do i need to replace the...

If all the fuses have been checked and are working as you say, try doing a voltage check on the cigarette lighter receptacle itself. If you set your DVOM (Digital Volt/Ohm) meter to DC volts, you should be able to measure 12 volts (+- 2) at the receptacle by placing the red lead to the positive end of the receptacle, which is the little button on the very back of the barrel, and the negative end, which is the outer chrome housing. (Of course, some vehicles require the ignition key to be placed to Acc or Run, but I'm sure you already know how your car is configured.)

If there is no voltage there, the fault may be in the wiring itself, behind the cigarette lighter. Get behind it to make sure that the positive lead hasn't been pulled out or is corroded for some reason.

If all is well with the receptacle and you want to be able to actually USE the cigarette lighter in it, you may want to consider purchasing a replacement lighter. You can find a lot of those in the "Help" line of parts at your local auto parts store.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions. :)

My child pushed in the cigarette lighter until

you could be lucky and the fuse blew, and it could be a burned wire, check the fuse panel and replace the fuse if blown, if it blows again you have to fix the wires, and possible the cigarette lighter if it got damaged

They probably share the same fuse. Sounds like cig lighter coil is shorted and "fiddling around" blew the fuse. Replace the fuse and try a different lighter coil.

Cigarette Lighter Coming on but power not strong enough to charge anything

the two problems that you posted could be connected somehow by the alternator not charging because of the belt issue. so if you have a low battery, the cigarette lighter would have a low voltage also.

then on the ipod issue, the memory of the radio could have been lost due to removal of battery cables or the battery really went down on its voltage. just re-configure your radio to accept the ipod music.

tnx 4 using fixya,
