Question about 2011 Ford F-150
Nav system has a mind of its own, will not focus on current location
There can be several causes for this problem. A bad antenna for the NAV unit or a weak Identity from the transponder can cause this problem. I do not know the statistics on the failure rate for this.
I would contact Ford for assistance on this one. You are talking about Satellite communications. This is new Technology and you don't want to buy the transponder box for want of a good antenna. Somewhere there has to be Proprietary Analyzers or a self-Diagnostic Mode to test your unit.
Some other Expert may have more Experience fixing this problem. I have a 2011 F150 with the same NAV so I know what you are using. It is imperfect. There are times it will say there is no data or I am out of range.
What this means is there is no record of the street you are on. It is not always a matter of Signal strength, or the Antenna. Not all roads were programmed or referenced.
Also what you will find is the UPDATE charge for more recent maps. They want your money for this and you may not even be out of a Lease yet.
