Where is 2004 avalanche fuel filter

The fuel filter is contained in the fuel sender assembly inside the fuel tank. the paper filter element of the fuel filter traps particles in the fuel that may damage the fuel injection system. The fuel filter housing is made to withstand maximum fuel system pressure, exposure to fuel additives, and changes in temperature. There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement.

IMPORTANT: This vehicle has a lifetime fuel filter built into the fuel sender inside the tank and thus is not serviceable separately. The fuel filter is not a replaceable part.

Locaction of fuel filters

The fuel filter should be mounted on the frame about under the drivers side door. It will take a special tool that is inserted into the fuel line to release the spring. Basically the tool snaps on the fuel filters tang and then is pushed into the fuel lines receptical. Don't panic the tool is very cheap a few bucks gets you a whole set that works on all your fuel lines and even some ac stuff.

  2. Prime the fuel system:

    • Try to start and run the engine. If the engine does not start, repeat the previous step.
    • Allow the engine to run for 5 minutes at idle.
    • Check for fuel leaks and clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).
