Sounds as if air is in the system. Check the coolant level for being low and top up and bleed as necessary. If coolant level is ok, possible headgasket getting bad

S-10 2000 sluggish after starting

HI,
A blown headgasket and overheating may have damaged the engine's rod bearings, pistons/rings, or even the valves.

Suggest a compression and leak down test be done to verify health of engine.

Where do i fill my coolant?

If you have the v6 3.5 liter engine the coolant jug is located at the back firewall it is a little clear jug with a black lid that is the only way to fill coolant if it is low, due to the fact they dont have a radiator cap like the older cars had, if you are changing your coolant you will also have to bleed the air out of the lines something like brakes if you dont your engine will overheat and blow a headgasket.

Noticed what looks like lithium grease inside the oil fill cap while i was changing the oil..what is it????

this means that you have a headgasket leak flush the system take out the antifreeze fill with just water put in a bottle of block seal / headgasket sealer run the engine for about 3 to 4 hrs then flush out the system again and fill with antifreeze (remember that block seal will clog your system (if) you don't get all the antifreeze out ( read the label on the bottle (autozone carries block seal) about 25;00 bucks

Cylinder head torque specs for 2.o liter

Can't give you the numbers but don't forget that the exact sequence is critical too, especially on small engines and aluminum heads which can warp easily and spoil the new head gasket. Some engines require 3 successive rounds of increasing torque in the right order. I hope you had the head (at least; block should be done too) checked for flatness since with a failed headgasket, it may have had an opportunity to warp and therefore require resurfacing.
Good luck-

Sounds like a headgasket problem.
If this is the 3.4 liter v6, they are good for the rear headgasket being blown. This lets combustion gases into the cooling system, and causes the coolant to overflow the tank.
