Try using a long rod from under the car up past the front of the radiator to activate the lock. You may need a friend to push down on the bonnet to help in this operation.

SOURCE: can't open Bonnet bonnet cable failure

The leaver may have broken, or the cable is simply too stretched and loose to open the hood. Another reason is hood might be putting a lot of pressure on the lever, therefore making in near impossible to open bonnet (hood), so you may need someone to push or pull up on it as you pull the lever.

See if you can get at the cable itself, directly behind the lever. If so, cut some of the plastic cover away until you see the bare cable, give the cable a tug with pliers.

I once had to remove the grill to get access to the cable there, I cut into the plastic cover, slid it back and grabbed the bare cable with needle nose pliers and gave that a tug.

See if you can get at the cable, if the lever isn't working remove it (usually two bolts or so) and try pulling on the cable there.

Hope this helps :-)

SOURCE: VW Bora: Can't open bonnet

first of all not an easy job,you need to get the front grill off and look upwards for a cover that will be covering up the bonnet catch, basicly bend or pull this off,you should then see were the cable goes in,then you should be able to bar the catch with a screwdriver to release it. best of luck

SOURCE: I have a bmw320 the bonnet release handle wont

Did you try with 2 people. one guy pushes down on the hood and then pulls up after the other pulls and holds the release.
Grease the latch every so often to prevent this.

1989 volvo 760 turbo hood is jammed shut how do i open it to check fluids?

Discover why it cannot be opened and rectify the problem. Unfortunately the bonnet must be opened to do this and that could need a great deal of the sort of guile possessed by a car thief if the cable or the release handle is broken.

If the cable is just tight but still intact a steady pull while an assistant bounces on the front of the bonnet might do the trick.

Doe`s it click onto the secondary saftey catch?
it could be that the cable has stuck, try pushing the bonnet release handle back to it`s original postion (the opposite to how you opened it!) then try shutting it.

Bonnet will not open with key

Not sure if the solution can be applied to 2006 focus, I have an European Mk2 Focus which also having the same problem. Here is what you can try.

To Open:
1. Jack up the car on the lifter.
2. Open bottom engine cover.
3. Loosen two (10mm) screws which secure the bonnet lock assembly. The screws located between air manifold and radiator.
4. Once the screws released, disconnect the alarm cable/socket connected to the lock assembly.
5. Try pull open the bonnet, it may require little force to pull the bonnet open due to a little white plastic link (~1" long, plus (+)shaped) is still connected between the lock assy. and cable assy. Failure to release bonnet lock is only caused by this plastic link!
6. Once the bonnet opened, the cable assy can be detached by pulling it from engine side out. Inspect the plastic link if it worn out.

To Install:
1. Attach lock and cable assy. Ensure the plastic link is properly inserted in its place between lock and cable assy. Test the mechanism with the car key.
2. Insert the whole assembly from engine side out.
3. Secure with two 10mm screws, reconnect alarm cable.
4. Reinstall bottom engine cover.

Hope this help. Sorry for my English.
