The car is in limp home mode. I replaced speed sensors input and output. the modulator test fine.
When i crank it up the milage guage dos not work nor does the gear location indicator.
When i put it in reverse both guages will come on but the indicator shows the transmission in all positions.
A transmission shop tells me it could be in the ignition switch area. does anyone know more about this problem?
someone else said there is a relay for this transmission. i never heard of it before?

Ok, I know this may sound obvious, but check your batter terminals by undoing them and cleaning them with coca cola (the phosphoric acid cleans the terminas!) leave the battery disconnected for a few hours. Reconnect and then then try the car. This could solve two things, one: resets the TCM, and two: fixes bad grounding which may be causing this intermittent fault. If problem persists, then take the car to o'reillys and plug their diagnostic into your engine computer. look up the codes if any online or by calling the manufacturers service shop. If no codes, you're lucky, but I'd be surprised if their were not any. a bad ground could cause the TCM, or ECM to read things like no power, etc, etc. check the ground first. Then check the connectors to the fuse box.

Normally, for the speedo to stop working it's the output speed sensor. This would affect the cruise control too. Make sure the connectors are snug and the wires are not loose and possibly broken. In this instance, you may find the diagnostic will provide a PCM, or TCM error. If so, take the car to a trusted transmission repair shop and ask for a road test. This will tell you what's wrong for sure before you begin throwing parts at it.

Good luck
