For starters ,Check the immobiliser for resistor/transistor failure. You may have to replace the unit . Heat makes the electrical parts change characteristics hence the items are affected and won't work

The engine immobiliser is the device that reads you ignition key near the ignition lock. It is used to not allow the engine to start unless the right key is used meaning the person with the key has the right to start the car. If it is faulty or your key battery is low then it senses that you are not the person permitted to drive the car. Take it to a dealer for more advice as to where it is and how to check it . While you are there have the fault codes read as it may be something entirely different that doesn't quite agree with you description of the fault.. IE ambient air temp sensor.

Bill. this is not applicable to a 1997 Jetta VW. Ambient air temperature sensor? Not on this car, air intake temp sensor is fine, I believe it is the clutch pedal sensor, or ignition switch, problematic with these cars. Thanks anyway Bill.

if you have a sunroof, the sunroof drains are clogged. either way you may have a bad door switch. you will have to pull each one out and look for corrosion at the plug. the fronts are most common, they are on either side of the dashboard.

If you can turn off the internal ultrasonic sensors (many cars allow this so that pets can be left in a car) it may solve the problem. If you can't winding a window down a little sometimes will help

Car ran fine but now won't start and battery is working but won't jumpstart.

sounds like the starter motor, make sure the battery did not leak acid and corrode the cable, remove battery cables and inspect first. If cables and battery are okay then starter is most likely cause

If the car is in a secure area, raise the hood to vent air from the engine compartment when you park.

The symptoms sound like Vapor lock or a bad coil. Check fuelpump pressure when it acts up again.

If this vehicle has an ignition Relay, or a Fuelpump Relay, they may be affected by heat. Replace those Relays.

I am thinking the starters failed because of extreme cranking usage. Next time you replace one, get a Lifetime gaurantee.

There can be a strenuous condition for a starter when the engine is overadvanced. GM had a problem with its Crankshaft sensors which kept the Cams overadvanced and it fried the starters when the Owners tried to start their motors. But this was not due to heat and occured on cold motors too.

I hope my solution is helpful. Please rate my solution.

Truck has electrical power but won't turn over. I think I can hear the starter solenoid engaging. Not sure. where do I start trouble shooting?

Safety first!--Make sure you're in park & brake on-- Try shorting across the starter terminals with a screwdriver,if the bendix kicks in & nothing spins, remove the starter & put in bench vice ,(or hold down securely), & jump with cables.--REMEMBER POLARITY--If the starter spins you are in deep *******---something in the motor is probably locked up.(If the starter doesn't spin get a new one.)

You have to be specific about the engine turning over

That is done by the starter circuit

Some people call that cranking

Some people also say it won't crank, when they mean
it does crank, but won't start

Not turn over the engine -----

Old & Weak Battery
Dirty Battery Cables
Worn out Starter Solenoid -- you can buy & replace
without getting the entire starter

Hello. My 1997 Chevy Tahoe refuses to start. The problems began with a bad fuel pump. I changed. It worked. The fuel pump died again. I changed it again and it has been working. I parked it for two weeks....

Now you have a good battery & a starter that turns over the motor

Have you cycled the key on & off with a fuel pressure gauge on the
fuel rail?

Do you have a fuel filter that isn't over 3 or 4 years old?

Have you checked for spark while cranking ? Use an old plug on the wires,
if you have ignition wires, don't ground the wire without resistance

If you removed the ducting & MAF Sensor it won't start

Tell us what you checked & exactly how that was done.

Heat- Is parking a car in high sun temperatures

heat is not fun during any time, is it harmful, yes and no. it can cause your Ac to work harder to cool the vehicle down in addition to eventually fading your interior. a suggestion to the heat would be to have light or white paint for the exterior (probably to late for you on this) and some type of window tint to reduce the heat on the interior. my vehicle hits about 110-120 degrees interior temp during the summer month's. 4 hours a day is not to bad for the sun exposure. I hope this helps!
