    Checked codes got P0740 TCC circuit malfunction, P0785 shift/ timing solenoid malfunction, and P1860 I don't know what that is. Fuel pump is also pumping low about 50 psi, getting ready to replace that now. Thanks for all the help, 5 gallons of gas and a road flair looks real good right now. Lmao

SOURCE: Fuse for tach

THERE IS A 10 AMP IGNITION 1 FUSE UNDER THE HOOD IN THE PDC.THERE IS NOT A FUSE FOR THE TACH.IF THAT FUSE WAS BLOW NONE OF THE GAUGES WOULD WORK.U COULD USE A SCAN TOOL AND CK FOR TROULE CODES.

Transmission shifts hard


I would stop using it immediately

Assuming the Tach doesn't flair, indicating slipping,
you diagnose any driveability issues with the engine ,
that effect shift strategy,then move on to the transaxle
diagnoses

If it slips already your done,it has to come out

If the fluid is full and there are no external leaks, and it is still malfunctioning, I would try to flush and refill the transmission with new fluid to see if this rectifies the problem. If it doesn't, then there is a problem with a shift solenoid where the transmission will have to be reserviced and perhaps torn down and rebuilt again (I know this is dreadful). Try to see if there are any codes stored on the computer for the transmission that might point to a clue about the problem you are experiencing with it.

I am having periodic problems with my truck stalling when I go to shift down to first when coming to a stop. It just stalls out then won't start & floods. After letting it sit for 15 - 20 min it...


It is possible that it is coincidence. Check if after revving it would stall after when your truck is in neutral or in park. This is to isolate the problem if it is the engine when in load or the transmission.

Is this a manual transmission? If there are shifting issues it may be the clutch. Other than that have the fuel pressure tested. The fuel regulator may be faulty or there are leaks or bad lines on the vacuum hoses.

It's possible you have problems with 1 or more of the following:
  1. Low level on transmission fluid - this isn't usually the case when you can't manually put a car in a gear but it's still worth investigating
  2. Burned or old transmission fluid - same as above, not necessarily the main cause of a shift problem but could be a contributor
  3. Linkage problem - over time, the linkage (connection between shift lever and transmission) can wear causing problems with "play" in the shift lever. A symptom of this is having trouble with the shift indicator lining up exactly on one of the selectors D,R,N,1,2,3.
  4. Bad or worn neutral safety switch - car is designed to have foot on the brake when shifting gears. the neutral safety switch (attached to brake pedal) will prevent shifting if it doesn't sense a foot on the brake. ***
As far as checking the fluid level, with the car/truck running and in Park, look for your automatic transmission fluid filler tube. It resembles the engine oil tube only it's wider in diameter and is usually located lower in the engine compartment. It's location is customarily on the driver's side of the compartment, in front of both the power steering unit and/or the master cylinder reservoir. While vehicle is running, withdraw the dip stick, wipe it down and re-insert. Then withdraw the stick again and check the level. There should be indicators on the stick showing where the level should be. Another thing to check while the stick is out is the color of the fluid. Transmission fluid should be reddish or purple. Brown fluid is worn and won't perform as well as new fluid. Also, bad fluid often will give off a burned smell. This is another indication that the fluid/filter needs changing.

*** Most likely cause is #4 the neutral safety switch. If the fluid is bad it would be a good idea to change the fluid and filter regardless since it will adversely effect the performance of your transmission.

My truck was running fine and got in it the next day and it wouldn't start.. I'm not getting any spark.


What year model is the truck? if it has a Tach then crank engine over if tach doesn't move then suspect a faulty crank sensor if it does move check power to coil. several other things this could be but this is a start.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. Since your check engine light is on, you need to take it to an aluto part store and have your computer scanned. The check engine light comes on because the computer has detected as problem with the truck. It should tell you exactly what part is bad. Autozone and Advanced do it for free. It doesn't take but a minute to do. It may be your MAP sensor or IDLE sensor. The test will tell you. If the light came on when the truck began to act up, it should be stored. Get the test done and you won't have to guess anything. Take care.

Just had both o2 sensors replaced and now the truck won't shift from 2nd to 3rd gear. Evidently it had been slipping a bit before but now it won't shift into 3rd at all. The tranny is an E4OD......


O2 Sensors --- not related to shifting

New transmissions --- are only new once
When installed on the assy line

Has to be rebuilt if necessary

PO 147 ---O2 Sensor Heater (Bank 1 Sensor 3) don't have one of those
PO714 -- Trans Temp Sensor -heat for the slipping
PO 471 --- Exhaust Pressure Sensor -don't have that either

Need a new guy

I have 05 volvo vnl 670, isx cummins 450/500. keeps losing power, check engine ECU comes on knowbody seems to know what it is. they just keep replacing sensors.


I have a 2007 Volvo 670. The check vehicle ecu comes on. The fault code is MID 144 PID 191 FMI 5. THe truck won't go pass 1400 rpm, the speedometer doesn't work, the cruise doesn't work, the engine break doesn't work. I have to turn the truck off going down the road at highway speed for about 10 seconds and it'll go back to normal. Can anybody help?
