First thing I'd try is some "heet" or similar additive in tank to remove moisture, then refill with gas from a busy station & drive it for a while and see what happens.

2000 Toyota solara 6 cylinder seems to hesitate between 45 and 55 mph

ever do the 60k mile tuneup? this decade?
if it does run perfect
and only hesitates for a second (you never said when)
you TIP-IN the throttle. and it hesitates for a very short time (1s) and
then catches up (does it) and WOT is good power.(wide open throttle) up a hill
then that is a BAD TPS. Hard to test and ECU never reports
it for one good reason, the ECU thinks the driver is crazy
so ignores it, (some times driving crazy is justified) see?
like passing, and should not be...

the TPS gets worn and it fails to report your fast foot
and the ECU fails to activate Enrichmode,
the Air meters. catch up, and power returns.

i can test any TPS , i have a scope, to see the glitch failures
most shops just replace it on suspicion.

Try cleaning the Mass airflow sensor and replacing the air filter. You can buy the spray MAF sensor cleaner from any auto parts store for about $6.00, ask the parts guy how to use it.

When your driving the car hesitates sometimes real bad and sometimes a little bit and when the car is idleing the engine hesitates a little bit

that can be anything from a bad spark plug to a bad spark plug wire. check your spark plugs, plug wires, coil pack or packs, and if nothing comes up there your timing blet or chain might have sliped.

Take van to reputable Ford dealer and have them hook it up to computer and check for any codes.
The vehicle computer might have to be reset for the egr system. What they did was disconnect your battery for the quicki reset for vehicle, thats why your radio had reset.

First suggestion is go to AutoZone and get the error codes read (for free) -- this'll probably tell you exactly what the problem is.

When you try to give it more gas at 50 mph, it starts to hesitate

It sounds as though your engine timing is off. Engine timing changes with engine speed. It is possible to adjust it yourself if you have the knowledge.

Hesitation at 40mph and 50 mph.

A pop and hesitation is likely a backfire. The hesitation around 40 and 50 would be in keeping with that theory. There are several reasons you might be getting backfires and hesitation. If your ECM is adjusting the engine to run too rich this could happen. Misfiring might be occuring. Timing could be out. But one of the most likely is a restricted exhaust, likely due to a plugged, damaged or worn out catalytic converter. In some cases the converter may be bad enough to be giving you some performance problems, but not yet quite bad enough to signal an error. A vacuum test can help confirm whether this is exhaust related.
