Dont know where my description went to so Ill add more info here. What octane gas should this car run, would running the wrong gas explain my problem Any info on common faults for this model car Can the coil, which is built in to the distributor, fail under load So far Ive swapped out, Replaced many components that I've found to be defected and the car still surges and bogs down under load, more so when hot, Its almost drivable when the choke is on or the feedback solenoid is disconnected, forcing it to run rich. The parts Ive swapped as follows Cracked distributor cap and rotor, freed up the centrifugal weights, EGR was leaking exhaust slightly, idle up dashpot not holding vacuum, and its associated solenoid was ceased and not passing vac. The air cleaner was clogged, carby had grit dirt in it, cleaned it out and put it back on, which improved the running of the car, but still bogged down when accelerating, or trying to with the odd backfiring, tried another carby which changed the characteristics of the fault but didnt fix it, anyone got any ideas. The timing is at 3deg with the vacuum hose plugged, with the timing light I can see the centrifugal advance working, and after I put the vacuum hose on I see it jump up as well.

Hi skychief2001, I found the diagnosis plug, even tho the car does have an ECU, it appears not to have the pin needed, Being feedback carburetor, It may be a different pin out, im not sure

The main problem ended up being in either the inbuilt coil or transistor switch, as swapping the distributor has solved thw bogging down problem, Both the mechanical and vacuum advance is the same for both distributors. Along with the idle up dashpot, solenoid, TPS and dirt in the carby. This car was a lot of small problems leading to one big problem, hope this helps someone who might have a similar problem, Thanks

Idles roughly, then low when stopped or in park, then dies. Decreasing gas mileage. Slow to accelerate

Sometimes that's caused by a vacuum leak near the manifold area.

Sometimes air in the coolant will cause an idle problem. Air will keep the air temp sensor from sending proper info.
Hope this helps.

Car won't run without foot on accelerator.

its very important that the throttle body especially around the throttle blade be spotless clean or they will stall every now and then. then progress to refuse to idle at all. take off the rubber air intake pipe from the top of throttle body [has 3 torqes screws] open throtle by hand and look for carbon/grease/soot etc were the throttle sits when closed. clean with toothbrush and some caeb cleaner get all black off and dont forget the blade, both sides and the edges. scrub then rinse with carb cleaner untill shiny.spray some cleaner in the hole that is on top off the body to. that is your idle air controll motor port.put back will be hard to start at first so hold gas pedal half way down untill it starts then slowly [real slow] let foot off untill you are no longer pressing it. put in reverse and let it idle there a few seconds then do the same in drive. that should do it. sometimes it may stall a couple of times when driving dont hold foot on gas just let it die then restart this allows the computer to readjust its idle stratagee

Throttle/Idle/running problem - wants to run too fast, or stall out

RPM's up and down check EGR valve and sensor. EGR valve and sensor control idle. That's why your getting the surging on rpm's and this could be giving out the other codes. If mass flow was bad car will not start and the same for the map sensor. O2 sensor measures gas and air for right mixer. TPS controls 0-60 speed as in throttle respons.
