SOURCE: where is the crank shaft sensor locate on a 1998

Should be bolted right before the transmission (it has a wire connected to the harness) on the upper side of the engine (near the interior). See Chilton manual 20404.

Front crank shaft seal is leaking

That is not a question

You obviously need to have it replaced

Not going to be an easy --do it yourself
project at home

You need somewhat special tools, that it
won't pay to buy ,for a job like that, once ever
10 or 15 years.

Working on Honda Prelude 1992 with a 2.2 motor can't get bolt off crankshaft pulley wanting to know if it is left or right handed threads

It is standard thread (right handed) and a little more information if you need it: there is a hole on the rear of the block on the drivers side located just behind the rear balance shaft so you can lock your engine #1 cylinder @ TDC with a 6mmX100mm bolt or screwdriver. there is a hole machined into the balance shaft that holds everything still so you can get done....I would also recommend the use of an impact....IT IS TIGHT!!!

1988 honda prelude manual tranny, won't start, put in a new starter and still the stater will not turn on, check fuse, oil, battery, what else can i check?

Have you checked the neutral safety switch? The switch is designed to prevent the vehicle from starting unless the clutch is fully depressed. I am not quite sure where the switch is located, it may be under dash on clutch shaft or the transmission. Keep me posted on this matter.

Crankshaft bolt broke for the second time in 3 years

I'm not an expert on Honda preludes...however, there are so many variations in the temperments of steel it's rediculous...even if you were to send a part out to induction hardening...there are still variations in temper that you will notice when machining...poor finish, tough spots that eat tools..etc..
In racing aplications, engine builders will weld on the lobes of the crank shaft to add or take away certain amounts weight, but you usually don't modify the journal surfaces, unless grinding to spec. and all of this attributes to the overall balance of the motor. And all the power of the motor is being held onto by that little key way..
So in a long winded conclusion....I know that I'd like to save as much money as possibe...and I personally would have a really hard time spending more money on the spray weld deal again........I'd look for a low milage salvage motor or a new aftermarket crank.
thanks...I hope it helps....Cafemoto

BEFORE U TAKE THE TIMING BELT OFF PUT THE CRANK SHAFT ON ITS MARK.IF THE CAM MARKS ARE NOT LINED UP THEN ROTATE THE CRANK 180.THEN U CAN MARK THE POSITION OF THE CAM & CRANK GEARS W/A CRAYON,WHITE OUT ECT.AS LONG AS THE GEARS DO NOT MOVE THEN U WILL BE OK.WITH THE OLD BELT ON U CAN SEE THE TIMING MARKS.

Does a honda prelude have main crank shells

Hello,
The engine described has Crank shells but is is more likely to be the big end (Con Rod) shell or shells worn.
If the vehicle is driven with this fault it may throw a leg out the bed i.e. Snap the con rod sending the other half through the crankcase there by completely totalling the bottom half of the engine.
