Question about 1998 Toyota Avalon
I have a 1998 Toyota Avalon xle. Last year summer, its ac was working, but it was too cool, making us shiver. Also blowing air had loud noise, even radio could not be heard. Changing temperature for ac was not working. Same thing was experienced when heat was on. Now for last three weeks, sometimes switch is on and sometimes not. The lights on the manual controls light ups and sometimes not. More over, when its on, ac is not giving cold air. I also noticed the Outside Temperature gauge is not showing a temp. The display reads "Outside Temp" but has nothing to the right of that message. I have checked the all the fuses and none are blown. Country: United States Make: Toyota Model: Avalon XLS Year: 1998 I have checked all the fuses, they are ok. What needs to be done to repair it economically. Thanks.

See toyota technical service bulliten AC005-99.
This is a expensive repair but if you just unplug the the air inlet servo motor(behind the glove box )
the air should start to work but without fresh/recirc control.

this is going to sound silly, but check you coolant level... if the level is ok, you will have to check to see that the blend door is operation properly. the blend door is located inside the box on the passenger side of the dash. also, check the switch that lets you go from hot to cold....
