SOURCE: The arm rest does not move to a parallel position

The armrest bolt takes a torx wrench but you can use an allen wrench if you have one that fits just right. When you pull it off, you will see a rod sticking out of the side of the seat with a little set screw threaded all the way thru it. That adjusts the height of the armrest. Turn it down some more and your armrest should sit more parellel. There is a bushing in there too that keeps the armrest from wobbling. Mine is broke and the armrest wobbles a little but at least it sits straight. Try that, it should work for you.

SOURCE: column apart need to see

Please specify your car type & MY !

Example:
1992 Chevy Lumina 3.1 Liter Tilt Steering Wheel Disassembly

This procedure describes the disassembly of the steering wheel (Tilt) for a 1992 Chevy Lumina sedan. The purpose of this disassembly was to replace the RAKE. The rake moves the ignition switch mechanism when the key is turned. This system entails four major parts:

  • Key Lock Assembly
  • Rake
  • Rake to Ignition Switch actuator linkage rod
  • Ignition Switch assembly

While this procedure describes the disassembly of the tilt steering wheel for a 1992 Chevy Lumina sedan specifically, most all GM tilt wheels are the same so this procedure will work on almost all GM products. Remember that these are general instructions. For more detailed instructions pertaining to your specific vehicle, consult the appropriate repair manual

As always, you should be very careful when removing the air bag module if your vehicle is equipped with one.

WARNING: The Diagnostic Energy Reserve Module or Sensing and Diagnostic Module (DERM/SDM) can maintain enough voltage to cause air bag deployment for up to two minutes after the ignition switch is turned off and the battery is disconnected. Servicing the SRS system during this period may result in accidental deployment and personal injury.

  1. Disarm system as described in Air Bag System Disarming & Arming.
  2. Remove module attaching bolts from rear of steering wheel.
  3. Rotate horn lead ΒΌ turn and disconnect.
  4. Disconnect inflator module electrical connector, then remove module from steering wheel.
  5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    • After completing installation, rearm system as described in Air Bag System Disarming & Arming.
    • Turn ignition switch to ON position and verify that the Air Bag or SRS warning lamp flashes seven to nine times and then turns off.

Disabling the SIR System:

  1. Ensure front wheels are pointed straight ahead.
  2. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position and remove key.
  3. Remove AIR BAG fuse (No. 21 on 1995-96 models) from instrument panel fuse block.
  4. Remove trim panel from under steering column.
  5. Disconnect Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and yellow 2-way connector at base of steering column.
  6. Open glove compartment door and disconnect passenger side Connector Position Assurance (CPA) and yellow 2-way connector.
  7. Wait at least 2 minutes before proceeding with diagnosis or service.

Enabling the SIR System:

  1. Turn ignition key to the LOCK position and remove key.
  2. Open glove compartment door and connect yellow 2-way connector and Connector Position Assurance (CPA).
  3. Connect yellow 2-way connector at base of steering column, then install Connector Position Assurance (CPA).
  4. Install trim panel under steering column.
  5. Install AIR BAG fuse (1995-96 fuse 21) into instrument panel fuse block.
  6. Turn ignition key to the RUN position and verify that the AIR BAG/INFLATABLE RESTRAINT warning lamp flashes seven times and then turns off.

Okay, let's get to work! First we need to remove the steering wheel.

Note: Information provide here is by an average "back yard mechanic" with minimal professional training. So any information is taken at your own risk. But maybe this will help.

Figure 9.

If you look in this area, Figure 9, there is a "V" cut out. Use a thin flat blade screwdriver. Insert about 2" and lightly pry down (handle of screwdriver up). This will release the safety tab and allow the column housing cover to be removed.

Pay attention to the upper right hand screw mounting hole. This might catch while trying to remove the column housing cover. Lift off the column housing cover from the Right.

While the column housing cover is free, the turn signal handle can be feed through it's cut out in the Housing by rotating the column housing cover 180 degrees to allow the washer tab on the handle to fit through.

Drivers window fell into to door. trying to remove door panel and try to figure out what happened. don't want to damage door panel by forcing panel off. 91 cad deville 35,000 miles sitting for long time....

Had exact same problem in '91 Cad. Fleetwood FWD, which is same as '91 Deville except for trim fender skirts. My mechanic said it was a broken window regulator. That part is not available new anymore, unless you can find some NOS. I bought a used regulator from Cadillacs Only for $75, and paid my mechanic for 1.5 hours of his time to r&r. Window now works fine. Not happy that I had this problem; regulator not a great design.

Wipers won't lie down when off

The self parking mechanism in the wiper motor assembly has failed, most likely the "emf brake" built into the motor itself. If the self parking microswitch was broken (another common fault) then the wipers would simply keep running until the ignition was turned off.

The only solution is to either get an auto electrician to see if the motor assembly can be repaired or to replace the entire wiper motor. Repair is probably the better option as it's an expensive part.

Need a diagram of the fastening of the driver's

no pattern just assemble it the way you took it off. Not much in books on this but a picture. I f you have taken many off you will see this . You just have to try most just unclip and then if clips stay in the door you have to retunr them to the cover a lot of times you will have a few screws one behind door handle one by mirror cover and one in behind the entry lamp center of the door and also older gm's one under the arm rest and then even older a couple screws in the lower carpeted panel. and some you take off the door handle and put tool to push out windeow crank parallel with crank handle. and very hold units unscrew the door lock thingy left top. now do repairs and put back together the way you took apart .
