Bank 1 is the converter on the side that engine cylinder one is on. Yes that is true about the converter, the computer is programmed for a certain value, an aftermarket cat will not meet that value and the check engine lite will be triggered.

Aftermarket converters can cause catalytic converter monitor issues, these are not O2 sensors, they are catalytic converter efficiency monitors, I know they look like a O2 sensor but they are very different in how they work, what are the codes you are getting.

SOURCE: Mirage Mitsubishi 2000 1.8L Rough Miss when Idle

Might want to look for vacuum leaks. Most misfires that go away with gas are caused by manifold vacuum leaks. The cat code can also be caused by the vac leak. There are different methods to find them and not real easy-but one way is to get a can of carb cleaner spray and spritz around intake areas. When the carb cleaner finds the leak--the car will run good for just and instant. Could be a rubber line or a manifold gasket. Hope it helped. Thanks

Check engine light is on and the car runs rough at idle only. There is also a burning smell when I exit the car coming from under the hood. What could be the issues?

have a parts store pull code, to see what sensors r at fault, tps throttle position sensor may need adjust, oxygen sensor needs replaced, may have two ? both need replaced. gas cap might b faulty ? in any event, the trouble code must b cleared out from computer, after repaired is made. if engine light comes back on, reclear it. sometimes intermittant sensor problems occur, engine light comes back on. well, the gas we buy with ethanol is killing our engines, put some fuel stabilizer in @ next fuel up. but try some fuel injector cleaner first, winter gums up injectors, soooo ! fuel filter replacement is always in need, people don\'t get it, replace all filters, air, fuel, oil, get it ? maintenance is a necessary evil. u change yur clothes ever day, right ? well, same thing., good luck, ken

Oil leak

Not sure where your oil pressure sender is on that engine, but usually they are close to the filter. Or perhaps leaning on the top of the engine, like the fill cap, cracked something. Another possibility is a bad gasket on the new oil filter or overfill by 1 quart.

My 2000 Montana gauge is showing that's over heating even when it's driven a short distance and when driven on the freeway it's not smelling like its over heating or there no steam coming

If the gas gauge does not work correctly and the temp gauge reads hot, you could have a problem with the instrument panel.
Both gauges get power from the same circuit, but each gauge is grounded by its own sending unit.
If the temp gauge is reading correctly, you could have air in the cooling system and it is not actually full of liquid coolant.

Bought my car about month ago service engine light has been on my change oil light comes off & on.It also hesitatel when taking off. my problem is - i was driving it runs good but it died an when

If the car is new, then check the engine oil level.
It is common for some cars driven around the dealers cold to suffer fuel ingress into the sump. This can "water-down" the engine oil, and allow it to be pushed into the cylinders and burnt.
This is an unlikely case, but I have come across it a few times. It's just a simple check to make. If the oil level is too high, and if it smells of fuel, then replace the engine oil and filter.

You will otherwise need a diagnostic computer. The car is under warranty, so they should take full care of it.

My 2002 vw jetta diesel tdi had a recent oil change and I just checked the oil and it is way high. If I drive it will it mess the car up? I have driven it already but I'm really worried.

If it is grossly overfilled it can damage the engine as well as **** oil into the air cleaner and then the engine, on a diesel this can cause a run away engine because a diesel will burn the oil like fuel.

Service engine soon light stays on and just had the oil changed, along with oil filter, fuel filter and air filter. Car was running rough prior to this now its missing bad and died while it was in park...

If the car was built 1996 and after, you can get the codes scanned at Auto Zone for free (unless you live in CA) and they will give you a print out of the codes. Without knowing more about the car (you didn't put in any year or engine info, or symptoms) I can't tell you what could be wrong with it.

Make sure the hose connected to the PCV valve is connected at both ends and has vacuum. It is better to replace rather than clean a PCV valve as they are inexpensive. It sounds like your engine is building up internal crankcase pressure so a new PCV valve would be a good place to start. The "egg" smell could be that the catalytic converter/s are going bad and need replaced.

Overheats and air pressure build up in cooling system

Classic signs of a head gasket gone bad and will need to be replaced as soon as possible. Note also that coolant is corrosive to the engine's internal bearings and should not be driven until the head gasket has been repaired and it's a good thing to also replace the oil and filter to remove the contaminated oil with coolant from the engine.

Good luck and sorry for the bad new.
