To find TDC remove number 1 plug and place the crank pulley timing mark on tdc . Using a piece of soft wire etc move the crank back and forth and determine when the piston is not moving That will be TDC no 1 piston It should line up with the TDC and mark on the pulley.

You've either got the valve timing wrong .. or..

It may be that the pistons have hit the valves because of incorrect timing. Damaged valves will result in no compression.. This will happen on an interference engine - valves hit pistons. I don't think your car is an interference fit engine, so it may be -hopefuly - a case of incorrect timing.

Can you have the timing out 180 degrees out and the engine rotate without bending the values


You could have the ignition timing out that much without any valve damage but with the valves it would depend on the force of truning the engine over if there was valve to piston contact. If it was out that much on valve timing the engine would not start so there would likely not be enough force from the piston to valve contact if it occurred, to bend the valves.

P0011 NISSAN Description
Problem with the intake valve timing control solenoid valve.
This mechanism hydraulically controls cam phases continuously with the fixed operating angle of the intake valve.

The ECM receives signals such as crankshaft position, camshaft position, engine speed, and engine coolant temperature. Then, the ECM sends ON/OFF pulse duty signals to the intake valve timing control solenoid valve depending on driving status. This makes it possible to control the shut/open timing of the intake valve to increase engine torque in low/mid speed range and output in high-speed range.

The intake valve timing control solenoid valve changes the oil amount and direction of flow through intake valve timing control unit or stops oil flow. The longer pulse width advances valve angle. The shorter pulse width retards valve angle. When ON and OFF pulse widths become equal, the solenoid valve stops oil pressure flow to fix the intake valve angle at the control position.
Could be a problem with the control valve, oil flow to the valve, or one of the cam or crank sensors.

As a result of the angle change, the engine timing is advance or ******. Optimizing engine timing will help the engine improve torque and fuel economy, and the exhaust emissions decrease under overall driving conditions. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system includes the Oil Control Valve (OCV) and VVT controller. The ECM detects the actual intake valve timing using signals from the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, and performs feedback control.
- Dirty or low engine oil
- Faulty variable valve timing (VVT)
- Faulty oil control valve (OCV)
- Variable Valve Timing (VVT) harness is open or shorted
- Oil Control Valve (OCV) harness circuit is open or shorted
- Damaged ECM

Nissan altama 2005 3.5 l v6 problems are running smooth when engine is cold 5-10 min there us a problem with engine vibrations on the stop i get the trouble code which is po0011

When there is a gap between angle of target and phase-control angle degree, the valve will stop working and the ECM will trigger the P0011 code.

depends on the Engine in the car.

1.9L SOHC (SEFI on Valve Cover)engine, no, they are non-interferance engines, put a new timing belt on it and go.

1.8 DOHC engine, yes, it will destroy the valves, head, pistons, and if really bad, the block too. These engines are interferance engines, where the valves just barely miss the piston as it comes up, and when the belt breaks it will hit the valves and destroy the engine.
