SOURCE: my car alarm keeps going off randomly on my megane

Finally solved the problem!
Hope this might help all those people out there with intermittent sounding of their car alarm.
Renault Megan Convertible.
Having taken the car back and forth to my Renault dealer and being told that it would now be OK, it still kept intermittently going off after ten minutes when locking the car. Problem never showed up when I took it to the garage, at least the RAC man that came out on a few occasions heard the problem, and just advised me to take back to the garage.
Never had a problem when the roof was down so the garage kept looking for a fault on the interior sensors.
To cut this story short , It turns out to be that when I lock the car and have forgotten to take out my mobile phone (switched on) which I keep in the centre consol. 99% of the time I remember to take it out, thus the reason for the intermittent problem and the phone is always taken out when I take the car to the garage. If the phone is left on the floor or on the seat no problem, only when in the centre console. I also find it only happens when I am using my Blackberry with full data & Bluetooth enabled. It does not do this with my older mobile phone without data & Bluetooth.

SOURCE: Hi there,

can you check under hood, there is a fuse box, remove fuse box lid, inside is printed names of circuits if you have an alarm circuit , remove that fuse, then check if car starts and runs, if so, alarm is disabled.

It may be easier to just disconnect the battery at night. You could even buy a disconnect switch.
The siren is powered by a 10 or 15amp fuse number 12, but you would still have the hazard lights flashing. That is a different fuse. The actual keyless entry and alarm module gets power from several sources.

Alarm keeps going off randomly how do you keep from doing this

Is it going off for a reason? Is it because a sensor could possibly be failing and causing it to trip the system? Is it because sensitivity is adjusted wrong?

The easiest (depending on the system and what it is in) would be to remove the fuse from the alarm but then you will no longer have protection.

Best thing to do would be take it to a repair shop and have them troubleshoot it for you to minimize the aggravation.

Factory alarm goes off when it shouldn't. Someone told me to pull the fuse for the alarm, but i'm not sure which one that is.

the fuse listing may be abbreviated in the fuse box, look in the owners manual, that may or may not be the proper way to disable it and if you want to disable it permananetly I would buy a haynes or chilton manual specific for that vehicle at the auto parts store and study the book. I would keep it hooked up if you can! nissans are extremely easy to swipe.
