SOURCE: 1994 Mazda Protege, new battery, new alternator, wont charge

You must have blown a master fuse or fusible link.

Refer to the maintenance manual.

this happens sometimes during a jump start or a direct short in the elect system.

SOURCE: My 97 miata has been having terrible squeaking

The alternator is loading up too much for some reason.
Had the same issue on my friend's 2001 Mazda Protege. Turned out the voltage regulator in the alternator was faulty. Had the alternator rebuilt. A week later, it acted up again! There is apparently another issue, but I have not been able to figure it out.
Unfortunately, I don't have a clear answer for you, but, one's thing's for sure. Mazda has to stop using crappy Ford electrics in their cars.

SOURCE: Battery dosn't charge, alternator/voltage adapter test's good.

Did you test the Alternator on or off the truck? It might be a problem with the control system to the Alternator. The regulator need a battery feed to work, It is usually ran through an alternator fuse.

My car won't charge my battery ? Check the alternator (charging system) . You put new cam & crank sensor an timing belt on for a charging system problem ? Or after you did this stuff ,now the charging system isn't charging the battery ?

When a car battery gets low, the windows won't necessarily move extremely slow - you may still have functionality, but not enough power to start the vehicle. Charge up the battery or replace it if it is more than 4-5 yrs old. As for the screeching sound, its possible a loose alternator belt could cause that - if the belt is too loose the alternator might not be charging the battery properly. Another possibility is the alternator is binding and that can cause the screeching too. Remove the drive belt and try to rotate the alternator by hand - if there is excessive resistance you might be looking at a new alternator too. Most automotive parts stores will test your battery and charging system for free if you ask them.

Code 43 . my alt stayes at about 11 12 volts when

CODE 43 IS ELECTRONIC SPARK CONTROL -.KNOCK SENSOR.LOOKS LIKE ALTERNATOR NOT PUTTING OUT ENOUGH VOLTS TO CHARGE BATTERY.YOU NEED 13.5 TO 14.5 VOLTS.CHECK ALTERNATOR FUSE AND ELECTRICAL WIRES.MAKE SURE BELTS NOT SLIPPING.IF ALL IS GOOD.REMOVE ALTERNATOR.LET AUTO ZONE CHECK IT.TO MAKE SURE.TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE MOVING BATTERY CABLES.SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO CODE.YOUR CAR IS NOT GOING TO RUN RIGHT IF THE ECM DONT RECEIVE 12 VOLTS OR 13 VOLTS.

Either your belt broke to your alternator, or your alternator went out.

check for battery voltage at the charge post on the alternator and at the 2 wire connect with the key on .if you have it then its a bad alternator. if you have a belt spinning the alternator.

If the alternator isn't putting out as it should be the first thing that needs to be checked is the battery because it really has an influence as to how the alternator charges. Since you have a new/good battery...hopefully the cables where they attach to the battery are corrosion free...and the alternator has been replaced several times and tested the problem shouldn't be with those 2 components.

The next place to look is the AIR pump belt because it drives the alternator belt. It has a tendency to loosen up and when it does the alternator doesn't turn as fast because of the belt slipping on the AIR pump pulley. To verify this with the engine off place your thumb on the fan blade of the alternator and try to push/turn it. It shouldn't move at all and if it moves easily then you have probably found your problem. There is 1 bolt in behind the AIR pump that you will need to access from below and loosen otherwise the pump will not move when you turn the tensioning bolt as well as 2 in front.

There is another possibility and that is that the idle speed is too slow to allow the alternator to charge properly with everything on. If you raise the idle speed up by pressing your foot on the accelerator and your voltage returns to the 14 volt range then try checking the adjustment of the minimum air/idle screw, throttle position sensor/TPS and the air gap for the idle speed control/ISC motor and maybe you can get the charging voltage to a normal range that way.
