Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 2006 chevy malibu with 130k miles on it. lately I will be driving down the road (typically happens on hwy over 50mph, sometimes lower though) and ALL my gauges drop to zero, gas, temp, rpms, speedometer, ect. the car keeps running, without power steering) and some times they all just come right back on. after this started happening, from time to time (becoming more often) my car wouldn't start back up. I'm not finding a problem like this, and computer dignostics reads "error" or nothing at all but all my fluids, and battery are fine. fuses are good. For a while if I disconnected and reconnected the battery it would start back up, other time I'd just wait it out and enough tries in it would start. now its dead in my driveway with no luck for hours. suggestions??

lower the gas tank, remove the gas pump mod. There will be a sending unit on it . sometimes you can get the sending unit separate, sometimes the whole unit has to be changed.

My 2005 chevy malibu classic keeps stalling/shutting down

you might have a short circuit in your car, or a loose cable somewhere, I don't think the car is overheating, I think that the temperature sensor (commonly screwed to the engine by a water return hose) is not working well, probably the bimetalic material is all wear out, you might consider change it.

I have a 2001 chevy malibu with a 3.1 in it it will run about a half a mile then it will quit like u tuned it off and it will not start back up for one hour why

shuts off while driving down road, then restarts 10 min, later is a bad crank sensor. does it set a fault code, have car scanned, auto zone will do this free of charge.

2003 Chevy Malibu. While driving down the road turn signal keeps clicking randomly.

what this means that either you have a short in the wire harness going to the turnsignal/dimmer switch assembly . or the switch contacts inside the dimmer switch itself are shorting. this would be a good place to check for the intermitant problem

Hard up and down-shifting into 2nd gear - manual transmission

I have seen this happen in numerous cars, I have a mazda that does that, my buddy has an 04 suzuki aerio that does that etc etc etc.... There really ins't a "fix" for that as it really is just what late model manual trannys do, all you can do is just let your car warm up. If you are really concerned you can throw a new tranny on there but once it gets broken in it will start doing that too. Sorry!

Most brake pads on GM products (and just about everyone else's) have little scrapers on the sides of the pads that will cause the brakes to squeak all the time when you wear down to their level. When you hear that constant noise it is time to replace the pads ASAP. If you put it off too long, you will probably end up replacing the rotors too. If you drive like me (jack rabbit starts and sudden stops) the original pads might make it to 35-50,000 miles. If you drive like a granny (slow starts and coasting to a stop) you might be looking at 45-60,000 miles before replacement.
