My 06 chevy 2500 transmission slips in drive but goes in revers good what should i do

Have a pressure test done on the tranny It appears that there is a problem in the band or clutch pack pressure.

    What should the psi be at? Should i do hot or cold?

    The test will be done by the auto specialist who will know the pressure required by your transmission. It won't make any difference wether hot or cold as if there is a fault the pressure will be too low

    O i think i got it pressure switch plug in was bad in side the tranny new plugin put it all back together goes in all gears now thanks for your input

unfortunately if it is brown rusty color you have a serious problem! this usually occurs once you have burned up the clutch plates with in the core of transmission! honestly I do not aim to discourage you but your probably going to have to eventually change this transmission! if you have a strong aroma from the dip stick it is burned up!!!! I have change plenty of these over the years due to the same circumstances.Good luck and hope that it all works out for you,John

Sure sounds like the torque converter is bad to me. Usually after the fluid gets hot, this problem shows up. Specially since it's in ALL gears......sorry o;(>

SOURCE: 99 chevy lumina 94k mi transmission stopped working. Fluid good.

check fluid level, make sure proper fluid is in transmission otherwise take to trans shop to diagnse if level and type is correct(check at idle normal operating temp)

SOURCE: I have a 1994 Chevy 2500 it gets bad gass mileage.

get a tune up done. spark plugs, wires , air filter. wouldnt hurt to change the differential fluid. if it has 4 wheel drive then get the transfer case oil done as well and front differential and have the whole viechel greased where ever there is a grease fitting, llike driveshafts, front axle joints. any friction won't help at all.

Bad torque converter

You are expecting a lot from a torque converter to full 2.5 tons at 60 mph. The converter will be a standard unit and will experience considerable slip under these conditions .Run fault codes to ensure that the converter clutch is operational. Talk to an auto transmission shop about a heavy duty converter that is more suited to the job.

Check fluid level,sounds like its ready for a rebuild though,once they slip its pretty much cooked

I got a 2004 grand Cherokee special edition. I drive my jeep for a little . When can goes in reverse it make a weird sound and sometime stalls out . But when I first drive Cherokee cold revere works...

Common Chrysler problem, your shift solenoids are going out. Id reccomend having a transmission shop replace those before you have to rebuild the transmission. Those can cost anywhere from $1200 to $2500 to rebuild.

Transmission in 2008 dodge grand caravan vibrates in reverse on incline.

The revers band sounds like it needs to be adjusted so it's not slipping. You caravan is a 2008 so the transmission should still be under warranty unless you do lots of driving around, if it's past the warranty coverage, bring it to a transmission shop and have the fluid, filter replaced and the revers band adjusted since the transmission pan is going to be dropped. Good luck friend. Keep me posted if you want to try to tighten up the bands your self, nut i think it's better for you to take it in, Less mess and job will be done right with warranty.

My transmission appears to be slipping from gears

first check the level of the tranny fluid the truck needs to be running and in nutral if you have fluid it is probably the modual,the shift control modual comonly goes out the dealer will tell you you need a new transmission take your truck to a good transmission shop and have them check the modual tighten the bands and flush the transmission I had the same problem and that fixed the problem, the cost was around 350.00 also check to make sure that you dont have any leaks in your tranny lines. hope this helps
