Wont start when wet


Most likely one of the wirering harness plugs leading to the crank position sensor or the cam position sensor is getting moister in it.
These sencors are very small pulse generators, and if they get wet will prevent the pulse from being strong enough for the computor to read and prevent the ignition module from firing the plugs and also will prevent the fuel injectors from pulsing.

2.5L Engines
On the 2.5L 4cylinder engine the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is located in the distributor.
The sensor contains a Hall effect device called a sync signal generator to generate a fuel sync signal. This sync signal generator detects a rotating pulse ring (shutter) on the distributor shaft. The pulse ring rotates 180 degrees through the sync signal generator. Its signal is used in conjunction with the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. It is also used to synchronize the fuel injectors with their respective cylinders.
When the leading edge of the pulse ring (shutter) enters the sync signal generator, the following occurs: The interruption of magnetic field causes the voltage to switch high resulting in a sync signal of approximately 5 volts. When the trailing edge of the pulse ring (shutter) leaves the sync signal generator, the following occurs: The change of the magnetic field causes the sync signal voltage to switch low to 0 volts. 4.0L

The CMP sensor contains a Hall effect device called a sync signal generator to generate a fuel sync signal. This sync signal generator detects notches located on a tone wheel. The tone wheel is located at the front of the camshaft for the right cylinder head. As the tone wheel rotates, the notches pass through the sync signal generator. The CMP sensor is used in conjunction with the crankshaft position sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. It is also used to synchronize the fuel injectors with their respective cylinders. The sensor generates electrical pulses. These pulses (signals) are sent to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The PCM will then determine crankshaft position from both the camshaft position sensor and crankshaft position sensor.
The tone wheel is located at the front of the camshaft (2). As the tone wheel rotates, notches (3) pass through the sync signal generator.
When the cam gear is rotating, the sensor will detect the notches. Input voltage from the sensor to the PCM will then switch from a low (approximately 0.3 volts) to a high (approximately 5 volts). When the sensor detects a notch has passed, the input voltage switches back low to approximately 0.3 voltsthe CMP sensor is used in conjunction with the crankshaft position sensor to differentiate between fuel injection and spark events. P1529 - MIL light request

P0722 - Transmission Pulse Generator B. The Pulse Generator detects the revolution of the idler gear parking pawl lock gear and emits a pulse signal. The pulse signal is sent to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) which converts it into vehicle speed. The code is detected when the Pulse Generator B failed to provide a signal to the TCM upon initial movement of vehicle.

Symptoms:
- Engine Light On (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Speedometer improper reading
- Possible shifting problems

Possible Causes:
- Pulse Generator B harness or connectors
- Pulse Generator B circuit is open or shorted
- Pulse Generator B

2004 Tiburon...drove earlier today then parked. Tried to start it again but it would not start. I checked all of the fuses related to the ignition system and checked for spark on each of the coils.None of...


If there is none of spark at each spark plug when you crank the engine. Assuming that you checked the spark like that, unless you have other way in doing this, then the problem is the ignition module.
The spark at the secondary coil is only generates a spark at a spark plug if there is a pulse voltage at a primary coil. The pulse voltage is not there then there is no spark. The one generates the pulse voltage is the ignition module when the starting is in action. Hop this can help.

Speedometer stop working where's the cable?


Your vehicle does not have a traditional speedometer cable. Instead it uses a VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) to read speed of the vehicle below is a short test to help you determine if it is the VSS that has failed.

SPEEDOMETER VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR TEST

1. Press and release trip odometer button until function number 6 appears in display window.

2. Turn a front wheel and observe display (pulses are added to number in display. Check impulse signal for speedometer vehicle speed sensor. If 7 pulses are generated per wheel revolution, vehicle speed sensor is okay.

3. If specified number of pulses are not generated, check for open in wiring harness between speed sensor and instrument cluster. Repair wiring harness if necessary. If wiring harness is okay, replace speedometer vehicle speed sensor.

I have no spark.. have replaced crank sensor, computer, coil pack.... cranks over fine just no fire.... also injectors are pulsing with key in on posistion


The coil is good after you check resistance from primary and secondary terminals, but it won't generate spark if there is not pulsing at the primary terminals. You can generate sparks by connecting at the primary coil to 12 volts from the battery. Connect the secondary terminal to a spark plug. Now the primary connection has to make pulses on off continuously (either positive or negative ) to generate the spark from the secondary terminal (now is at the spark plug). If you have spark here then the problem is the ignition module. It is a electronic device to perform the function as you just did to generate the spark. Good luck.

The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) is mounted to the transmission bellhousing at the left/rear side of the engine block. Engine speed and crankshaft position are provided through the crankshaft position sensor. The sensor generates pulses that are the input sent to the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM interprets the sensor input to determine the crankshaft position. The PCM then uses this position, along with other inputs, to determine injector sequence and ignition timing. The sensor is a Hall effect device combined with an internal magnet. It is also sensitive to steel within a certain distance from it.
On 4.0L 6-cylinder engines, the flywheel/drive plate has 3 sets of four notches at its outer edge. The notches cause a pulse to be generated when they pass under the sensor. The pulses are the input to the PCM. For each engine revolution there are 3 sets of four pulses generated.
The trailing edge of the fourth notch, which causes the pulse, is four degrees before top dead center (TDC) of the corresponding piston. The engine will not operate if the PCM does not receive a crankshaft position sensor input.

1995 camry running fine up until i parked it for 2 hrs ignition fine timeing belt fine keeps popping 30 amp fuse could that fuse block were the harnesses are plugged to under the dash go bad?


It takes a short circuit to blow a fuse. You could try to disconnet thingsuntil it stops, but that is slow. Better if you buy pulse generator to replace the fuse, then move probe over wire until puse stops at the short in the wire.
Harbor Freight might sell a short circuit test probe and pulse generator.
