Gas leaks out on passenger side right under the driver side back door

fuel line leak-have to get it on a lift asap, it could be as easy as a split or dryed out rubber line or a rusted through metal fuel line-no matter what, you do not want to let this go long.

Need to change fuel filter on 97 chevy lumina

Follow the steps care fully

Open the hood and relieve the fuel system pressure. On the fuel rail, right before the first fuel injector, locate the Schrader valve-similar to a tire air valve-on the inlet fuel line. Using a small screwdriver, depress the stem inside the valve while covering the valve with a shop rag to catch the squirt of fuel.

Raise the back of the vehicle using a floor jack and support it safely on jack stands.

Locate the fuel filter along the frame rail-passenger side-of the vehicle, near the fuel tank.

Unplug the quick-connect fuel inlet line on the back of the filter by pressing the lock tabs. Push the connector towards the filter and then pull to disconnect the fuel supply line.

Disconnect the outlet fuel line from the filter-the line going toward the engine-by using a backup wrench to hold the line nut while disconnecting the lock nut on the filter with a tube wrench.

Remove the filter from its mounting bracket and install the new filter in place, making sure the arrow on the side of the filter case points toward the engine.

Install the outlet fuel line. Tight the lock nut finger tight, then hold the fuel line nut with the backup wrench and tight the lock nut with the tube wrench. Make sure not to over tighten the nut to prevent fuel leaks.

Press the fuel supply line fitting against the small tube at the back of the filter until the lock tabs snap in place.

Lower the vehicle, start the engine and check for leaks.

sounds like a fuel line. trace the fuel line from under the truck on the driversside should go up the back of the motor. the fuel line is probably spraying over to the passenger side of the motor. yes this could cause a power loss.

For 1995 Toyota Corolla 1.8L EFI DOHC 4cyl the Fuel Filter is located under hood, driver side, rear engine area, passenger side of master cylinder, mounted in fuel line.

Good luck.

Fuel filter location

Things to know first: It's about the size of a soup can, has three fuel lines running into it that have quick-disconnect fittings. This means you have to buy a very cheap, plastic tool to disconnect the lines. Tell the parts store you need the quick-disconnect tool that matches your tubing size on the filter: I found an assortment in a package for about $5. Now, jack up the passenger-side of the car. Crawl under below the post that divides passenger front door from back door, and look up. You're looking for a cylinder mounted front-to-back, just inside the edge of the frame. If I remember correctly, you have one tube running into the back (from fuel tank), and two leading out from the front. A one-bolt clamp holds it in place. I found it easier to take the clamp loose work on it. The plastic tool is sort of T-shaped, with the bottom of the T formed by a split tube that connects to a flat disk that is also split. The idea is to hold the tool with the flat disk end toward the filter, and spread the split over the tube: it will slide over the tube end enclose it. You now have a filter at one end, a quick disconnect at the end of your fuel line where it attaches to your filter (metal tubing end of filter), and your tool slipped over the metal tubing between filter and disconnect. Shove the disconnect tool toward the fuel line...it should be possible to force it into the end of the quick disconnect and release it, allowing you to shove the fuel line off. You'll get a bit of gasoline-cologne out of this, but it shouldn't leak much---it's supposed to seal. Now, do the same thing to the remaining two tubes, and your old fuel filter should be completely disconnected. Bolt the new one into the clamp and onto the car....push the three fuel lines back onto the filter, and it's time to crawl back out----you're done. Jack the car back down and grin proudly.

Possible leak in a fuel line?

likely is a fuel line as your fuel pump is located in the gas tank... as it's is under fairly high pressure you should get it fixed as soon as you can

Engine turns over fine, won't start

the fuel line is located along the passenger side of the frame, and there is several links/splices, including the fuel filter, located just behind the passenger door. check along those lines. My truck wouldn't start and I had a small leak, when I fixed the leak, it started and ran fine. hope this helps
