How to removed and install The ECM

Your better off taking it to the dealer , after replacing it needs to be programmed or it will not run . Information from the old has to be up loaded to GM Tech 2 scan tool to load on new one ! Then you would need to pay for a subscription to GM'S service programming system to get software to program new ECM .
Program the ECM. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) in Programming. If you encounter an ECM programming error, with a display message of "Starting Disabled, Remove Key" on the driver information center, with a diagnostic test code (DTC) of P1631, perform the "10-Minute Relearn Procedure" found in Programming Theft Deterrent System Components. Refer to Programming Theft Deterrent System Components . Additional information can be found in service bulletin number 05524 A. Turn OFF the ignition for at least 5 seconds after the programming event is complete. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to Idle Learn . Use the scan tool to clear all DTCs.
Of if you a few grand you could buy a J2534 programming tool an

How do i set the co2 level

CO2 levels are set by the ECM program. If the HO2S and O2 sensors are working properly then that information is relayed to the ECM ,checked against the CPU program and the air/fuel mixture/timing is adjusted by the ECM to rectify the readings. Run the fault codes to see if there is a sensor problem

Why would my ecm burn out 2003 Chevy blazer, replaced the ecm but still won't start

Most ECM failures are from wrong battery polarity, current surge from jump starting incorrectly or over voltage from a failed alternator regulator. If you fit another ECM you may have to have it scanned to reset the CPU program in it as the immobiliser may not be compatible with the different CPU program

Location of ECM in 91 corvette

OBD-I ECMs were equipped with the Mem-Cal and Cal-Pak to run the base operations. The programming that your ECM uses for normal operations comes from a PROM that you remove and use in the new ECM...unless that is the problem. Its not unusual for a PROM to become loose or just get dirty pins so contacts are poor.

ECM programming didn't come into play until OBD-II allowed in-car during driving program access and modification. People still set their lap-tops in the passenger seat and drive and make changes at stop lites until they get performance they like...
OBD-I folks have to pull the prom, insert new one and hope its what you want. There is equipment to burn your own and write your own performance programs etc...but most guys don;t go that far because its a few hundred bucks worth of stuff thats good for nuthin else and there are too many places that do custom burns based on your input or data logs.

Look for a spare ECM on Flea-Bay but DO check your prom before buying one. They go for abouit $100-$150 used.

Where can I get a ECM for a 1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse bench tested??

Check the crank sensor before you send the ECM in. ECM does not fail that often.

If I change the ecm, does it need to be programmed? I'm purchasing a new one from a local parts store and have never done one.

Late 95 into 96 is when the changed from an ecm that had a replaceable (prom) to one that was made into the computer that would have to be programmed.Check you original ecm for a plate covering a removeable prom if it has one swap it into the new one and your good to go If not you will need to get the new one programmed

I swapped my 1984 enine ecm and wiring harness for a 1987 engine, harness , and ecm. the engine won't start very weak spark at the coil i swapped it out also

could possibly be that yiu got ecm and harness for full fuel injection instead of throttle body injection.if not it could be that sensors such as craqnk and others mus be changed to match programing on 1987 ecm there could be diferant parameters programed for emissions and soforth.

Just change the ecm on my 2001 ford Windstar and it won't start the anti theft light is blinking

did you get the ecm flash programmed? newer vehicles require the ecm to be flash programmed before they are installed your dealer and some auto parts stores can do this for you it usually runs around $90.
