SOURCE: how to replace rear brake pads on 2005 jeep liberty

put the back of car on jack stands and secure the front tires so it does not roll and then remove the bolts off the back of the caliper there is normally two one at top and one at bottom and spray it with some kind of oil for rust and make sure you have the right size socket before you try to loosen them and once caliper is off and the old pads removed take one of the old pads and squeeze the piston on the caliper back in by using a "C" clamp and also remove some of the brake fluid from the master cylinder before you do this put the new ones back on and check the brake fluid and make sure it is full and then pump the brakes to make sure you have a good pedal also put some "No Squeak" brake stop on the back of the pads so they don't squeak they will have that where you buy the pads from

SOURCE: How to replace reak brake rotors on Jeep Liberty

Replace rear rotors on 04 liberty.
Remove tire & wheel
Remove brake caliper, tie up out of way.
Back off e-brake shoe adjustment.
Remove factory spring clip from lugs (2places)
This is the crude part....
After attempting to pull off disc/drum with puller....I got pretty sick of it. Understand this is in the Northeast with lots of salt on the roads in winter. Needless to say there is a ridge of rust around the inside edge of the e-brake surface. Any more pressure and I was afraid of damage to the e-brake shoe asembly. I then took a small grinder with a cut off wheel and cut the disc thru (used space where caliper usually sits). Also cut nearly through the face between 2 lugs. You can't quite get thru the back corner at the disc. Since the material is cast iron it will crack when you drive a wedge in the slot cut in the disc. This opens the housing around the shoes and it slides off easily. The cutting operation took less than10 mins, alot less than the puller with hammer assist!
I know this is a bit "unorthodox" to say the least, however the object is to remove the old junk disc safely and as quickly as possible, without harming the e-brake parts inside.
Install new parts in reverse order, new pads go in easy after squeezing the caliper piston back with a c clamp as is the normal procedure.

SOURCE: how to change oil filter on 2008 jeep liberty 4x4 ?

yeah they will say that and it may be your last choice but I know it is in the front of the engine and you need a long extension and ratchet handle and a claw type filter wrench to get it. Worth investing in if your going to do it all the time yourself. but prob not for one time.

SOURCE: my 02 jeep liberty oil pressure light comes on at

I recommend that you temporarily install (or make it permanent if you wish) a mechanical pressure gauge. this will allow you to read the actual oil pressure, eliminating the possibility of a bad gauge or sender (yours is electro-mechanical.) If actual pressure still drops at that rpm I'd remove the pan and check the pump screen for obstructions.

How do i replace the oil pan on a 2004 jeep liberty 3.7

I have an 2003 Jeep liberty and removed the oil pan the shortcut method. First of all, take a look at the oil pan lip. Its really 3 layers. You want to seperate the bottom layer which is the actual oil pan. The second layer is an oil pan insert which is bolted to the oil pump pickup on the inside. I then used a hoist to lift the engine to take the weight off of the engine mounts. The two engine mounts have through bolts that can be loosened. It is not necessary to remove the bolts completely although I did. Now lift the engine about 1 1/2 inches out of the mount. This allowed enough room to turn the pan around and slide it out. Waaay easier than the book method. Good luck and let us know whether this works for you. I had to change a piston because of a dropped intake valve seat because of an overheat. This is how I came to own the vehicle. The dropped valve seat lodged the intake valve open and all the fuel air mixture started igniting inside the intake manifold and destroyed the intake manifold giving way to a huge intake hole which causes the engine to runaway. I'm lucky the seat didn't fall all the way into the cylinder. The walls were spared. I ordered a new piston from the dealership and it came with rings and bearings installed on it.

I have a jeep liberty 05 and the oil drain plug has been removed but the threaded/welded now the oilpan needs piece that holds the plug has broken off inside the oil pan.needs to be removed and i need to...

You may have to remove the front differential
center section, to remove the oil pan, if 4x4

I had to do that on a 1992 Dakota & then silver
brazed the threaded tab back in the pan

All you can do, is get under there & figure it out.

I just removed all oil pan bolts on my 2002 liberty am hoping you will tell me that the cheap rusted pan will clear all items for replacement

Usually the vehicle makers make sure that the crossmember is right smack in the way. I have had to carefully jack the engine up after removing the engine mount bolts, in the past to do this job.
On some vehicles you have to do even more then that to get the pan to clear the oil pickup, and the flex plate.
You dont want to get too rough with it either because some of those oil pickups can snap off pretty easy.

Oil Pan is completely loose, unbolted and no seals holiding it inh place. What would cause it to not drop down away from belly of jeep?

The oil pump baffle inside the pan, it is a sheet metal box around the oil pump so when you trun the pump always has oil around it.

Jeep liberty 2008

When you open the hood look on the drivers side of the engine. There will be a pulley(Power Steering Pump) that your belt goes around, right under it on the back side is where your oil filter is located. It hangs down slightly angled towards the front of the vehicle. (This is of course the 3.7 liter V6)
