on scale of 1 to 10 ten being most difficult how hard is it to change out brake pads on front and back of 2003 Hyundai Santa fe what tools are required / recommended. What brand of pads are best for this model?
Disc or drum brakes? If they are disc brakes and you have ever worked on brakes before then 1. If you are mechanically inclined and have access to a shop manual for your vehicle then 3. If you don't have a shop manual, have limited tools, no mechanical ability and have never worked or bled brakes before then it is likely you either A)Won't finish this task yourself or B) You will finish, but your car will plunge off an embankment or soar through the next red light you try to stop at. Don't do it.
Drum brakes are more difficult, each is like a puzzle. Only pull apart one side at a time and get the correct tools and a shop manual. Pull off both hubs, but use one for reference on how it goes back together. Using the scale as before for difficulty 2/10 for an expert. 4/10 for a novice. and 11/10 for someone who has no business attempting this.
I am highly doubting that you plan on taking your Hyundai to the track. This in mind, any brand that makes pads for your vehicle is fine. NAPA, Auotzone, RockAuto.com...doesn't really matter who, all carry these.
