SOURCE: Strong fuel smell in cabin. 2005 Nissan. 2005

Well first if you smell gasoline don't start the vehicle, check the entire fuel system locate the filter and check for leaking, also this vehicle uses a cabin filter to filter incoming air to the passenger compartment, locate this filter and replace it. there located sometimes behind the glove box door, or under the front cowling under the hood, in that space just under the wipers, If you can't find the solution and the smell persists, you need professional help ( with the car)

SOURCE: timeing chain tensioner replacement on a 2005 nissan quest sl

Improve the FixYa experience for everyone by voting. I want you to let me know if the solution(s) suggested were of any value. Constructive criticism is welcomed.

Hi,

I'm Ben and -- hopefully -- I can provide some meaningful assistance.

I'm not certain that I fully understand your problem. Therefore, I'm probably provide more information than you'll need.

Discussion:

A timing chain tensioner for your quest will cost $59-$75. The tensioner sits behind a small cover on the front of the engine. It;s difficult to reach but the replacement should take no more than 2 hours.

  1. Move power steering and coolant/antifreeze resevoirs out of the way for access .
  2. You may have to use a c-clamp to hold the guide and chain up out of the way.
  3. The difficult part is installing the tensioner without pulling the plunger stopper pin.

The following link is a tutorial on how to replace the chain, guide and tensioner and covers everything in far more detail than I'm permitted here. CLICK HERE

The following video should be of some additional assistance.

SOURCE: 05 Nissan Quest sputtering when breaking and service engine light came on

Have the fuel pressure tested to see if your pump is still performing at optimum. The test takes about 20 minutes, and will confirm if the pump and pressure regulator are doing their job.

One day TPMS sensor light was on on my instrument panel so I went to the repair shop so they reset it with the diagnosis machine and the sensor light was gone from the instrument panel temporarily. The...

The TMPS device in the tire attached to the wheel once introduced to the TPMS computer receiver it continuously checks air pressure and sends that info to the reciver (each whel does this) the reveiver compares the pressure data betwen the 4 wheels. If they are not the same it will put up a message to the dash TPMS icon.

So if all of your wheel sensors are sending messages and you are getting a message tire low -- they are working.
If you simply get the TMPS symbol or lettring and it is only becuase of one wheel -- replace the wheel sensor.
If all wheels are not working (each one off and on) then have technician remove the the electronic hadnshake for the car to the 4 wheels and then reintroduce the wheels to the car. If that fails then have the revieving computer check for faults and replace or replace it.
Note the wheel sensors each have a battery -- hence the batteries can go dead. Some sensors can have the battery repplaced. It is recommended that all 4 be done at the same time.

How do you reset the tpms with no tools?

you mean if a tire is low? just set all tires to the spec on the drivers door, it should reset itself. If there is a problem with a sensor, a scanner will be needed to determine which one.

How do you turn of a check engine light off on Nissan Quest 2005

There are two ways to turn off the light. The preferred way is to have the car scanned and at the end of the scan, have the light reset. The other way is to disconnect the battery for a minute. When you reconnect the battery you will find that the check enging light is off.
