Question about 2001 Ford Windstar
I had my 2001 van checked out because the ABS and brake light kept coming on. The mechanic said the instrument control module is failing. He listed several error codes: U1262,B1470, B1246 Is this worth fixing? Can it be fixed?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

hello i think it is the speed sensor because it operates the speedometer and this why the abs lights came on i had the same problem it should work.

Do you mean the van is actually braking like a Starsky and Hutch move or that the warning lights indicate that they are on? If its lights then you may be low on brake fluid. Maybe a module leak

Sodometer and speedometer could be vehicle speed sensor. ABS module could cause the other symptom. Do a search on the part number they say is bad. Try this site for repairs http://www.bba-reman.com/catalogue/Products.aspx?category=811

Something is wrong with the Braking-Traction Control of the vehicle. Your sensor is probably broken. You to need have diagnosed which sensor.
Someties this is damaged when lower assembly and replaced. Take it to a
professional for diagnosis and repair.
There is a problem with the ABS, (Anti-Lock Brakes). You still have normal braking but your ABS may or may not work properly.
Each wheel has a sensor mounted near the brake discs in the front and drums in the rear. You can see them without even removing the wheels. Look on the inside of the wheels kind of near the ball joint and you will see a small electrical cable. This cable goes to the sensor.
Check it and tell us news.

The EBCM detects a low brake fluid condition and sends a class 2 message to the IPC.
The IPC performs the bulb check.
An ABS-disabling malfunction also disables dynamic rear proportioning (DRP).
The IPC illuminates the ABS indicator when the following occurs:
The electronic brake control module (EBCM) detects an ABS-disabling malfunction. The IPC receives a class 2 message from the EBCM requesting illumination.
The IPC performs the bulb check.
The IPC detects a loss of class 2 communications with the EBCM.
sounds like you have an intermittent problem for now ! a wiring issue or wheel speed sensor going bad. Need to check for codes in abs module , that will give you an Idea where to look first. These systems can set a lot of codes, component codes , wiring codes etc... need to know what code first.
