SOURCE: replaced the ambient temp sensor on my 2006 dodge

I had the problem where the wires were damaged by road debris. The wires cross under the radiator, exposed, on the cross frame rail-driver's side. I put some shrink tubing over the wire, soldered them back together, slipped the shrink tubing over the repair and heated them up to seal nicely. Black tape over the repair. I thought i had a one in a million problem ;-).
Of course I bought a new sensor too...Doh. well I have a spare now.

DTC P0128: Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature
Do you have any issues with heat in the vehicle? If so the thermostat may need replaced If not the engine coolant temperature sensor is most likely reading incorrectly due to a bad sensor or connection to the sensor.

SOURCE: what is fault code 71 means

Code 71 is because your mixture is slightly rich also. the coolant temp sensor and is sometimes the culprit but i think there may be issues with the afm and possibly the iac (on the 22re) also bad grounds can cause faulty codes. my 22ee has had the same code and ive replaced everything except the throttle body , every sensor including the afm and the egr valve. i have no vacuum leaks and good grounds. i got the code to clear for about 3 weeks last spring but it came back, what helped was i added a few ground straps and cleaned all the contacts at the ground terminals. still came back. i do have a header , no cat and a bigger exhaust but it was on prior to all the exhaust mods. the code is actually related to the temp of the exhaust gas. so i would think maybe the o2 sensor would be the sensor detecting the error. that and the egr temp sensor, which i have also replaced but wth a used part. maybe thats the problem. its a real pain in the *** man... trust me i was about to just pull the cel bulb out of the cluster and say screw it.

I have mits triton nov 2009 4x4 the ambient p0072 makes the eng light come on but it does not have that sensor so I need to know if any knows the colour so I can check wiring thanks

code p 0072 refers to outside air temp sensor ( ambient temp sensor--low input===causes ---wiring short to ground, outside air temp sensor ---ECM
thee has to be an ambient temp sensor as that reports the temp to the ECM to adjust the air/fuel settings for cold starts
it could be in the MAF/VAF sensor area

Ok what do you call the sensor

Ok what do you call the sensor Arnold, List of sensors, could be more on different vehicles. You will have to have scanned to get codes to diagnose problem.
  • Crank Position (CKP)
  • Cam Position (CMP)
  • Engine Coolant temp (ECT)
  • Manifold Absolute Pressure or Mass Air Flow, MAP and/or MAF.
  • Throttle position (TPS)
  • Accelerator pedal position (APPS)
  • Heated Oxygen sensor in exhaust (H02S)
  • Wheel Speed Sensor
  • Tire Pressure sensor (TPMS)
  • Intake/Ambient Air Temp (IAT) "I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. Check out some of my other posts if you need more tips and info."

What do the codes p0072 and p0073 mean on my 2008 Dodge avenger? w

Well, I would say that it means that SOMEBODY is confused!

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0072 is defined by SAE J2012 as "Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low" DTC P0073 is defined as "Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High"

I do not know how the ambient air temperature sensor circuit could be faulted both HIGH and LOW at the same time.

The only thing I have ever seen cause something like this is when people try to install aftermarket "performance chips" on their vehicles which "lie" to the computer about what the ambient air temperature is.

The ambient temperature sensor for the mirror display or outside temerature, is located between the grill and air conditioning condenser. The coolant temperature sensor is located in the left (drivers) side cylinder head.

Having problems with day lights not automatically coming on at dusk or at night

There is an ambient light sensor located on you dash that tells your light control module to turn the headlights on when it gets dark enough. If the sensor has gone bad, the feature will no longer work.
You will need to have the LCM (light control module) scanned for codes to see what the fault is. Once we know what the code is we can go from there to fix the issue.
Let me know.
