Not certain about your mits., but most cars have the pump inside the gas tank. A few older cars (honda) placed the pump just in front of the tank, along the chassis frame rail. Check there first. Don't mistake the fuel filter for the pump. The filter will not have any wiring to it, the pump will have wires into it.

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Chariot Grandis Exceed 1998 (4g64) and recently changed the engine. Prior to changing the engine the car had a shudder when driving approximately 70kmph. This appears to be caused by some sort of misfire as one can see the ref counter dropping and picking up slowly. After changing the engine I still have exactly the same problem which tells me it is not the engine. I took it in and they tested it with one of those plug in machines but to no avail as it did not pick up any faults. Due to the slight drop of the needle prior to the car shuddering, I cleaned out the injectors but this does not appear to be a part of the problem. This usually occurs more often when the engine is warmer and not when one start up and drive. Any ideas what can cause this?

SOURCE: I have a 1999 mitsubishi
The problem could be a bad throttle position sensor or a bad idle air control valve.I would remove them and test them for proper operation .These test s should be done by your local service station because every car has a different procedure for testing these sensors.Any of the sensors on your car can be tested but like I stated they all have different procedures.
