Immobilizer fault Hello , Sir/ Madam , I have a 2009 ford ranger and the immobilizer security light flashes rapidly and the vehicle will not start , The vehicle is made in Thailand but the immobilizer system is a Mitsubishi system , Could this be repair , Please let me know . Hi, The EGR valve itself is on a set of flexible pipework - usually stainless steel - which runs between the inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold. The EGR actuator valve is pneumatically / vacuum operated by a solenoid valve, controlled by the ECU ( aka the brane). It's not usual for the EGR valve itself to fail, more likely the solenoid valve or its electrical connector getting dirty. If you google for VAG TDI N75 valve you should get all the info you could possibly ever need :-)

This means that your key is not being recogonized.Ethier the chip in the key is bad or the patts transciever at the lock cylinder. Do you have a spare key? If not you will have to get 2 new keyss cut and programmed.

try turning the key to the acc position and leave it in that position till the light goes off. if it goes off then turn key off and then try starting if that dont work call a ford dealership and ask a mechanic

It's when the security light starts flashing that the infamous "chip" in the key becomes a nightmare to many. Gradually the car begins not cranking anymore or if it cranks it would start and die in a second. Randomly it will do this more and more often until it won't start anymore. VATS, PASSkey and Passlock immobilizer systems are killing cars all over North America, they have a short lifespan and are certainly more effective against owners than thieves. Here is how you save your car
1st trick, Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down and so do the keys causing security fail. 2nd trick, (if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my regal for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, im sorry i have no quick fix... Cheap fix: Bypass the chip in your key. Temporary, but effective. Until the TDM (theft deterrent module) in the dash poops out, then you're kinda screwed. I was told that these types of key security systems have a 7-10 year life span. Sucks for us. This link explains the "Key Issue" pretty well.

Never worry again fix: Bypass the whole VATS/Passlock/passkey I or passkey II system entirely. Literally take it out, and throw it away. I just did this in my Regal. Took about an hour. Took longer to find the thing than it did to fix the problem. They sell a unit for 200 bucks to totally bypass this system FOREVER. life time-money back and all that. Finally did this in my car. Well worth the 200 if you've looked into getting this replaced... Anywhere from 600-1000 bucks. If you do buy this, please purchase it thru this link. The Security Indicator Light illuminates to indicate that the security system is either working properly or to let you know that there is a fault in the system.
If the Security Indicator Light is flashing with the key out of the ignition lock and accessory position, this is a normal sign that the alarm and the immobilizer system is active.
While starting the car or key in the "run" position, the security lamp should illuminate briefly then go out. This a "bulb check" and is also normal.
If the Security Indicator Light is on steady with the key in the "run" position, and the vehicle won't start, there could be a fault with the system. In this case, the first thing to try is a different key to see if this starts the vehicle. If it starts, the key is faulty or the system has a problem with that key. If you are still getting a no-start with the light on steady, the system is at fault and will need to be inspected.

The immobilizer light on my dash is flashing, and the vehicle will not start, can hear the fuel pump running when I turn the key, but no crank.


Most likely your key has failed. You should find and try your spare key if you still have it. If not, then you will require someone with a tool to scan immobilizer codes and verify if there is a fault in the immo system or if it simply is saying INVALID KEY. If its faulted, it will require repairs. If its invalid key, you can use your backup key, or have a new key programmed by a mechanic or locksmith with key programming tools

Where is the fuel shut off switch in my 2002 mazda 626


Your vehicle does not have an impact activated fuel shut off switch like the ford vehicles. Power is provided to the fuel pump by the fuel pump relay. Power is provided to the fuel pump relay by the Main relay. Both relays are controlled by the Engine computer or PCM. The PCM can disable the fuel system by not energizing the fuel pump relay if the immobilizer system has been triggered by the use of a non-authorized ignition key being used to start the vehicle. This should also trigger the security light to be flashing on the instrument cluster as well. Look for that rapidly flashing security light to see if this is the problem.

Car wont start even after jumping it. No lights, etc. except for the security light. What's wrong?


Hi Linda , your vehicle has a anti-theft system problem ! Jumping it is not going to help ! The anti-theft system stops the starter from working ! Do you headlamps shine bright ? Horns work normally ? If you look at that security light when trying to start the vehicle does it flash rapidly ? Your going to need to have taken to the dealer , there the only one's that have the diagnostic tools to find out what is wrong !

I have a 99 ford ranger that I changed all the fuses in and now it won't start. I'm assuming it's because of the anti theft, but I don't know what to do from here. Any help or suggestions would be muc


If the security system is at fault, the security light should be flashing or staying on.
Do the warning lights come on the dash when you turn the key on ? Can you jumper the starter relay and make it crank ?

My theft lite keeps flashing on my dash 1998 mercury mountaineer


Hello. While it can sometimes be annoying, the flashing theft light is letting you know, and passers by, that the passive anti-theft system is armed. This system immobilizes the engine from starting unless a coded key, programmed to your vehicle, is used. When it's working properly it should flash about every 2 seconds. If it flases rapidly, or stays on, you will likely have to make a trip to the dealer. Also, if you have a keypad for your car some vehicles allow you to dis-arm the system. New vehicles come from the dealer with that system already activated.

The car wont start sometimes and sometimes it will. The engine doesn't even turn over but it's not a battery problem because we had that checked. What could it be?

this is a well known problem with the immobilizer system.

See the following official tech bulletin :

Affected vehicles:
All models with Bosch RB8 instrument panel up to 2002 MY.


Problem:

Engine starts and cuts out immediately.

Trouble code stored: 17978 (P1570) - engine control module (ECM), immobilizer active.

Trouble code stored: 18058 (P1650) - CAN data bus, instrumentation - no signal.


Cause
Immobilizer fault.
System arms when ignition switched ON.

Remedy:
Access fault memory. If trouble codes present fit modified instrument panel (incorporating immobilizer control module).

Note: Immobilizer can only be programmed using diagnostic equipment.
