Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe

2005 GMC Yukon

We have 2 codes that came on when we read the check engine ight codes. C086B and P1041. Could you please tell us what these codes are?? There seems to be nothing out of the ordinary that I can think of that is wrong. Everything is running smooth til this morning when I warmed my truck up because of the below zero temps. and when i got in it to go to work the service engine soon light was on. My scanner gave me two codes. 1.) P1041 for latched B+ line hi whatever that means and 2.) C086B unsupported code.
I have searched the internet all day trying to figure these out and have been unsuccessful. Any suggestions would be great for the meanings of these.

Hi!

This code means that the heated circuit in the oxygen sensor
on bank 2 decreases time needed to enter closed loop. As the O2 heater reaches operating temperature, the oxygen sensor responds by switching according to oxygen content of the exhaust surrounding it. The ECM tracks how long it takes for the oxygen sensor to begin switching. It the ECM determines (based on coolant temp) that too much time elapsed before the oxygen sensor began operating properly, it will set P0141. A code P0141 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:

  • open or short to ground in the wiring harness
  • O2 heater circuit wiring high resistance
  • O2 heater element resistance is high
  • Internal short or open in the heater element
Code C086b means there is Device Voltage Range/Performance issue.

I would strongly recommend contacting a repair shop or the dealer for this one. The P1041 code is not something I have ever ran across (P0141 is a heated oxygen sensor code) and as far as the C086B code (never ran into this one either), if it is showing as an unsupported code, which probably means it is an enhanced DTC or there is somethng in the computer that is not reading properly, would highly recommend the dealer for this one. Hope this helps.

The “C” indicates that it is a chassis code.  C086B  it was "Air Intake Problem" .  open the hood and your  Airaid intake  seperate from the throttle body. re-attach it and the code will be cleared .

The voltage is controlled by the Code P0135 is the front (primary) sensor #1 and P0141 is the rear (secondary) sensor #2.

Can P1041 cause transmission limp mode? Replaced shift selonoid, transmission range sensor/neutral safety switch, ecu and still in limp mode. please help. have checked everything to think of.

P1041 is a manufacture specific code ,with out knowing the make vehicle can't help . Where do you live that you can get away with taking off O2 sensors an Cat . Isn't there emission testing there ! You replaced a few parts ,maybe you should take it to a ASE certified repair shop instead of guessing !

My check engine ligt comes on and the engine when running seems as if it will shut off

The "check engine" light is probably showing that one or more of the engine system sensors are not working correctly. Take the car to someone that can read the engine codes to see what is causing it not to run correctly. Some of the auto parts dealers will check the engine codes free of charge. That should tell you what is not working correctly and needs replacement. That could be a simple "do it yourself" or a more complicated problem that requires an experienced mechanic. Good Luck!

Code p1041

http://www.micro-tronik.com/faultcodes/obdiifaultcode_p1041.html
Check the wiring to the first injector, then the resistance of the coil of the injector. If both are OK then the ECU has failed, replace it.

Hi i have a pontiac grand am GT 2002 i have a code 1040 what dose that mean Please

Unfortunately, code "1040" is a generic fault code and may need further diagnostic testing to decipher. In some cases, special diagnostic equipment may be required. If the code begins with a letter "P", for example, this indicates a powertrain problem.

Had this been code "P1041", for example, this would mean that injector circuit #1 is malfunctioning. P1042 is injector circuit #2, and so forth.

Have a great day !!!

Car seemed hesitant when started service engine soon light on

There are many things that can cause the light to come on. Generally if it is serious most 'check engine' or 'service engine' lights will blink. The simplest (and cheapest) method to diagnose the problem is to take the car to AutoZone and they will read the computer codes free of charge and tell you exactly what it is (such as the oxygen sensor got a bad reading and needs a reset, or its time for an oil change... etc.)

I am not too aufait with these types of vehicles, but I can ssure youo that trouble codes can be found online. Go into Google.com and enter GMC trouble codes. I can't from where I am because the sites are currently blocked from viewing.

Despite that, what are the symptoms the vehicle is giving with these trouble codes?

Check engine light is on.

There are engine codes for alot of diffedent problems. Go to Autozone and have the code read. They will tell you what it means. Post your results, please.

Check engine light blinks

My suggestion is to get the fault codes stored in the car's ecu read by a VW approved garage. That will tell them what "was" wrong. Once a fault has occurred the check engine light will probably stay on until the warning has been cancelled using VW software.
As for the grade of gas used in the car, the users manual will tell you that - it might also be written inside the filler cap.

I wouldn't recommend further use of "engine cleaner" - it might do more harm than good.

Go get the codes read and then you'll know for sure.

Hope this helps. D
