That does happen ~ more often than you would think, unfortunately. The 2006 Cobalts seem to be falling to pieces right now, though. If you are still under warranty make them check and repair everything especially your computer.

SOURCE: turns over, doesn't fire. No gradual problem, just didn't start this morning. No fuel to fuel filter, wondered where the fuel pump relay is, is there a fuel pump fuse, and where is the ground wire f

Yes it has a fuel pump relay. It's located somewhere in your Main Fuse box.It can be found under the hood near the Fiewall or the front end of the vehicle.

SOURCE: SLK stalling problem

no if the fuel pump is failing it wont start. what about fuel filter ? what you can do is find a shop with a scope and they can check the fuel pump on it and look at the wave pattern and can tell you good or bad. but when it happens and you cant hear it it is time to check it properly before it leaves you stranded.

There is not fuse for pump but a relay in the relay block. I do suggest jumping to see if pump turns on. Test voltage from ECM if needed. If voltage is to pump, then pump is shot. If not voltage, relay may be bad

this sounds like quality of parts not workmanship. however did he verify total running voltage at the pump while the vehicle is running. perhaps its getting too much voltage. cheers

Could a po178 code cause repeated fuel pump failure on a 2003 chevy tahoe?

No that is a Flex fuel sensor that detects the amount of Alcohol in the fuel and signals the powertrain computer to make changes to accommodate the fuel to the engine controls system. Here are common causes of early failure. 1.Did you replace the connector to the fuel pump? They sell a repair connector, it must be replaced anytime the pump is replaced or early pump failure will occur, the new connector must be soldered on and shrink tubed, no quick crimps should ever be used.. 2. Are you running the fuel down to or below 1/8 tank? This severely overheats the pump and causes early failure.. And lastly what is the average miles you are getting out of the new pumps?

I have a 2000 Nissan pathfinder just put new distributor in and still no spark or fuel. Fuel pump does not come on when I turn on the key

Failure of the fuel pump could be caused by open 15A FUSE 17 in the fuse box and/or failure of the fuel pump relay and/or failure of the pump itself.

The ignition failure could be caused by an open fuse in the ignition-related circuits.

Started when van quit running just a mile from home. all indications was fuel pump went bad. pulled it home and checked fuses. ok. tried starter fluid and it acted like it would start but it didn't. pulled...

What indications ? all indications was fuel pump went bad.?? With out doing a fuel pump pressure an flow testing , guessing is all your doing . An if the guy you took it to can't diagnose for sure he is no mechanic . If there is no fuel pressure an the fuel pump is new , the thing to do would be to find a wiring diagram an check power an grounds also the fuel pump relay inside the constant control relay module . CCRM Google it .

1999 Mercury Grand Marquis. with KOEO, voltage to fuel pump is 6.58 volts. Battery voltage is 12.47 Vdc. Removed fuel pump and installed jumper wire and fuel pump receives battery voltage. Why is voltage...

With my pump failure, I read the exact same 6.5 v at the inertia switch in my trunk with the key in the "on" position and engine not running or cranking. When cranking, the voltage to the pump jumped to +12V and if the engine did run, the voltage should stay at +12V.

The Ford manual states +12v should be at the motor for some number of seconds in the key "on" position then drop off if the engine is not cranking or does not start. In my pump failure case, I never saw 12V at the inertia switch in just the key "on" position, only +6.5V as the +12v fuel relay under the hood never engaged and/or stayed latched on.

In my situation, I measured an open circuit at the pump motor winding and suspect the +6.5V I was reading came from the Powertrain Control Module. I am also guessing if my pump winding was not open, the +6v voltage would have been +12v for a number of seconds for fuel priming as the fuel pump relay is temporarily energized, then drop to zero (relay off) if the engine does not continue to crank or run.

With my pump motor winding open, the Power Control Module may not have been loaded properly to function (reading +6.5 floating volts instead) in the key "on" position and therefore never climbed to the full +12V. There obviously was no fuel pressure at my schrader valve on the fuel rail when cranking which indicated an open wiring circuit (splice, ground or connector) or open pump winding. The 12v I was reading when cranking at least indicated the fuel pump relay was working.

With my new pump installed, I listened for the pump running in just the key "on" position. I believe I barely heard it running after the repair as it was running very quietly which indicates the +12v was there which supports my theory.

Van won't start, Chugs but no running, been getting worse

My first guess would be fuel pump, use a hammer to rap in the middle of the fuel tank at the same time get someone to try & start it. Sometime you can get them to start, if it starts its a fuel pump failure. Also get some to turn on the igntion, but dont crank it over while you listen for the buzz sound of the fuel pump, if its pump failure you will not hear it. Unfortunately summer heat brings out fuel pump failure, I have replace 4 in the last week. Good luck

Gas gage keeps going down to empty

This is an Indication that the Fuel Sending Unit (INSIDE the TANK) is Failing and Needs Replaced. It Will require removal of the tank & Fuel Pump to Correct Replacment of the Fuel Pump Incorrectly Can Also Cause this Failure so if you have had the fuel Pump replaced that Could have Insighted the Failure. If Not and You are sure that the Fuel Pump Is Original it will Not Hurt to Replace it at the same time, Because they Dont normaly Last Past 10 years and it Would Be a Good PREVENTIVE MAINTNANCE REPAIR.
