Why does my van beep at me when i push the lock button twice?

I was wondering if you could tell me why my van beeps at me when I push the lock button twice on the remote. Is it just to tell you the van is securely locked or is it telling you it is locked and the alarm is set and will go off if touched. I live in a small neighborhood and don't think the neighbors would like hearing an alarm going off but want to make sure the van is locked so no one brakes into it. Thanks for anyone that can help me out!! This is the first time owning a van like this so this is all new to me.

Think I should go out and re lock it only pushing the button once so the alarm doesn't go off? I've been parking it behind of our house in the driveway but get spooked going out early in the morning w. 3 little ones because of the wooded area behind our house. I'm always afraid someone is hiding back there even when they aren't. Guess could say I'm easily paranoid. So I parked the van out front where there is bumper to bumper parking. Hopefully won't get parked in. Let me know on your thoughts. Thanks!!!

I'm gonna let it go. Hopefully it'll be OK and won't go off. We've only had one problem with it so far since buying it last week. For some reason we couldn't get it to unlock when using the remote and had an insistence where the passenger sliding door almost shut on our 3 year old. Luckily she was able to get in the van before it shut so she didn't get hurt. That kinda worries me and am hoping once we get comfortable having the new van, we will be able to prevent it from doing that again. We got it mainly because everyone said it was one of the safest vans out there. So hopefully it won't let us down.

You are correct in what you posted. Double beep is telling you that it is locked and security is set...touch it or mess with your van and the alarm goes off. One push and the van is locked but no alarm. GOOD GUESS!!

Please don't forget to rate!!!!

It wouldn't cause any battery drain or anything. I would set it on security.

There are many ways, I'm not sure which one will work on your car. I answered the two ways. I hope it works.

1. Open the driver's door and put the shifter in Park
2. Turn the ignition to On (II).
3. Press and hold the unlock side of the master lock switch for five seconds until you hear two clicks.
4. Within five seconds, turn the ignition to the Lock position.

Why does my scenic beep

The "beeps" confirm the action taken. Your vehicle is doing what is supposed to, but why it hasn't been happening until recently is one of those quirky automotive things

Reset tire monitor on 2009 escalade

Hopefully you still have you manual. I will tell you how to reset the HHR, I found it in my manual. Turn the key to on, press lock and unlock at the same time on your key fob. The horn will beep twice telling you that you are in program mode. The left front turn signal light will come on, press the valve core letting air out of the left front tire. The horn will beep when left front is programmed. Then the right front turn signal will come on, let air out till horn beeps. Then right rear, same procedure then left rear same procedure. When that is done horn will beep twice again saying tire program is complete. Turn key off, make sure you air all tires back up.

How to disable the alarm of honda civic 2007

On Accord - it does the same thing, but the solution is simple, don't hit the button the second time! It locks with just one push, the lights should blink to tell you. You don't need to push it twice if you don't want the horn to beep.

If the problem continued, You need to go to the honda dealer; factory alarms are wired into alot of the electrical systems, so, hard to bypass unless you have a wiring diagram.

Hope helped (remember comment and rates this) TY for using Fixya.

Alarm goes off for no reason.

this could be a couple of minor things which we can check first, open and close each door to see if they all operate the courtesy lights, open the trunk and push the trunl light button to ensure it is switching off. there may also be a button under the hood. lastly check the glove box button is turning off the glove/jockeybox light when it is closed. if any of these fail, that is the button that needs to be removed and inspected. Good luck
