92 mitsubishi eclipse 1.8l, fuel pressure build up

I had that exact same problem with my 92 Civic.
Same symptoms.
After trying the coil, distributor, wires, computer, and half a dozen other things, I remembered the "Computer coolant sensor", a $ 12 part on e-bay.
Fixed it right up.
On this car, it was a brass sensor the size of your thumb mounted just under the distributor.
If you mean to say that "whoosh" sound when you take your gas cap off, I think that might be a vacuum instead of pressure, and it is there on purpose for the emissions system, I believe.
Be blessed.

1998 eclipse 2.0l dohc, starts but no run, has fuel, new head/belt and spark

If it pops when trying to start then you have installed the timing belt incorrectly. When replacing the timing belt you the camshaft and the crankshaft have to be lined up correctly. If they are not then you will get the pop out of the exhaust and the intake when the spark plug fires and either the intake or exhaust valve or valves are open. If it is a high interference engine you will bend valves as they hit the top of the pistons because the valves are compressed and extending into the cylinder. I guarantee you your valve train is out of sync with the crankshaft.

Why will engine start with start fluid and run, will not without starter fluid

First guess would be a tired fuel-pump. What is the fuel-line pressure while the engine is turning over verses the engine running?

The engine was just rebuilt. The car isn't starting, but the starter keeps turning the engine after you let off the key. 1990 mitsubishi eclipse 1.8

I had this happen to my old beater grand am. It was actually the starter solenoid giving the starter constant power when the solenoid receives power (key to run position) Is this car auto or manual

1990 mitsubishi eclipse wont stay running

ok heres the thing when a car sets for a long time you have to do more then just clean the tank you also need to flush and replace all fluids in it and replace the fuel filter (that one is key because it empties out the fuel lines and injectors) and also please do youself a favor and replace the timing belt i can not stress that enough every 60,000 miles or 18 months please just to be safe replace the timing belt these 6 bolt 2.0 engines are great and so easy and cheap to build but if you brealk that timing belt you will be buying a new engine but truth be told sonds like you have and intake sensor thats gone out pop ur air can off and check the mas for a wasp nest or something like that

Where is the starter eclipse turbo 1998

On the underside connected to the engine on your model eclipse I believe left side from looking at hood side. If its not turning over its your starter. Starters are easy fixes 100-150 new with returned core and about 50-75 rebuilt. Will have to jack your car up to get to it, just buy new one and you will see it =]
