Chevy Cobalt TPMS issue


Most GM cars can be done by holding both lock and unlock buttons on the key fob. The horn will then sound and the you let the air out of the tire. The hot will sound once detected. Start at the left front and then the right front, right rear and left rear. The horn will sound again indicating the procedure has been completed.

Do I need to disconnect any type of sensors on my 08 cobalt to remove the tires?


no. the tire pressure sencors are in the tire mounted to the rim. if changeing position of the tires you may get a tps light. check your owners manual for reset info

Where is lug nut key on 2009 cobalt


stock cobalts do not come with locking lug nuts from the factory, therefore the lugnuts on your car were put on aftermarket or from the dealer. as far as the key goes they could have put it anywhere, or not have given you one at all.

any discount tire store sells lug nut keys for about $5, just take them your car and they will sell you a key.

Front end rumble


Check for broken tire belts. Make sure your front struts are secure. Rebalance tires. Also clean any mud stuck to tires.

On vehicles equipped with keyless entry, simultaneously press the keyless entry transmitters lock and unlock buttons until a double horn chirp sounds indicating the Learn Mode has been enabled. The left front turn signal will also be illuminated....Next
  • Increase/decrease the tire pressure for 8-10 seconds then wait for a horn chirp. The horn chirp may occur before or up to 30 seconds after the 8-10 second pressure increase/decrease time period has been reached. Once the horn chirp has sounded, the sensor information is learned and the turn signal in the next location to be learned will illuminate....Next
    1. After the horn chirp has sounded and the right front turn signal is illuminated, repeat step 2 for the remaining 3 sensors in the following order:
    1. Right front
    2. Right rear
    3. Left rear
    4. When the left rear sensor has been learned and a double horn chirp has sounded, the learn process is complete and the RCDLR exits the learn mode.
    5. Ignition OFF, adjust all tires to the recommended pressures. Refer to Vehicle Certification, Tire Placard, Anti-Theft, and Service Parts ID Label

    2008 cobalt has recently developed shimmy in front end at low speed..<45mph is problem alignment or something more serious??also, road noise which has always been somewhat loud has definitely increased.


    Your cobalt should still be under warranty, so you should bring it back to the dealer. If you have done massive driving and your out of warranty, then il'd have to say that you may have a wheel bearing hub gone bad and needs to be replaced. Check the tire pressure first, tire condition and look for any signs if tire damage like tire belt separation. Tire belt separation is when the steel belt in the tires that keep the tire it's shape has broke and there is a flat spot causing the wheel shimmy. If your not sure,rotate the wheel by placing the front wheels to the rear and the rear to the front, making sure the tires are properly inflated to the recommended PSI. Good luck and start with checking the tire first.
