Question about 1992 Daihatsu Charade

93 Charade G200S 1.3Ltr 4 Cyl (more info to my original prob)

I have the same or very similar problem. I have a 1.3Ltr EFI 1993 Charade Hatch. It had been running perfectly, but the water pump seals gave out, so I have replaced the water pump and reconditioned the radiator. But what happens now is... that after about 5 minutes of driving (which gets it to about normal operating temp), it starts to rough idle. But it is more like its fast idle is turning on when its first started but not turning off and it revs up and down from around 550rpm to around 850rpm.

1. Check your water sensor and plenum temperature sensor.

2. The throttle body has a wax element air valve used for cold idle. As the water temperature increases, the wax element closes the idle fast port. Being the highest part of the coolant system you may have an air lock, which can be solved by bleeding the hoses on the throttle body.

The throttle body is the thing that sits between the air filter and the engine, You should see a couple of small rubber hoses going to it.

Yes the idea is to loosen one of the clips, pull the hose off and make sure water runs out of both openings (hose and the pipe it was connected to). You may have to give the engine a quick start (2 seconds) to get the water pressure up.

Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you, but we have moved house and internet during the last few weeks.

I have gone through and checked the sensors and one of the sensors was broken (snapped) obviously from when I put the radiator back in.

Now it looks like it is possibly the Thermo Fan Sensor.
There are some markings around the six sides of the hex nut.
They are: (1st side) = ND (which I guess is NipponDenso) (3rd side) = 6N10 (4th side) = 99M





The dealer pricing for the sensor is pretty expensive at $130.

I have looked at after market ones and have come up with two, but not sure if they are suitable and which one of the two is the right one as the temp ranges are different.



Once I get this replaced I will then be able to perform additional checks.

you forgot make and model, year for help so the best advice is that if it is an EFI engine take it in and have the fault codes read
before you hurt your self or some one else
from there you will know exactly what the fault is
possible an problem ECM unit but without the codes it is a guess

Diahtsu charade g200s wont start


Check, gas, then battery, then plugs, then pull the air filter off to check for blockage. Air, fuel, compression, timing, and spark are all required to run.

Where is gaz pump fuse camry 1996


There is not one on the 4-cyl just for the fuel pump. It is supplied by the EFI 15A fuse thru the EFI main relay and the circuit opening relay. See here p 177

Hi,torque the NEW bolts in three stages in a equally distributed pattern. 1. 20 foot pounds 2. 35 ft. lbs. and finally 3. 47 ft. lbs.

I have a Daihatsu Charade 1993 g200s it blows thick black smoke when i put my foot down and it always needs coolant and is always overheating. any suggestions?

96 Sunfire overheating after replacing radiator, pump, thermostat


Do you did you take out the rad. or have a shop do it for you. Your problem sounds more like the rad is not the right size for your car. The difference is very slight. The rad for a 4 CYL And the 6 CYL look very much alike. they even interchange with one another. But if your car has the V6 and you are running a 4 cyl. rad you may run hot like this. Now if that is NOT THE CASE, IF THAT IS NOT THE CASE >. You still have air in the rad. Open the drain port a small bit remove the rad cap, start up the engine and let it run till it reaches temp -- tighten the drain port and refill the rad, and the overflow to full. try all that and God Bless.

Aside from having a faulty fast idle valve, you may have a leaking intake manifold gasket.

Check engine light coming on.


Hi, it sounds like an electrical fault, possibly some loose wiring or poor grounding or possible a faulty sensor somewhere so you should prob take it to an auto elecrician rather than trying to do it yourself unless you have a workshop manual and a fair amount of knowledge. As for the diagnostic plug, its on the right hand side (passenger side) in the rear corner near the fuel filter its about 5cm long and black and has diagnostic printed on the top of the cover. Hope this helps.
