Re: Diesel in gas in a 2008 Yaris
I would recommend draining the tank, replacing the fuel filter, you will probably have to replace the spark pugs as well. You may want to also blow out the fuel lines if easily accessible. Put in new gasoline, a fuel system additive, and run it for a little bit (may get some smoke for a bit, and my be hard to start at first and run rough). Hope this helps.

This problem usually occurs due three reasons:
1. If the odometer is reversed. (In this case the speed is not read. if meter reads speed ignore this reason).
2. The pointer in the sender fuel gauge is carbon fouled. (Remove the fuel gauge from the fuel tank and just clean the pointer. The fuel gauge is located under the rear passenger seat).
3. The fuel gauge in the fuel tank is defective.(Replace with a good known one even purchased from the junk).
Hope that works.Thank you for visiting Fixya.
yes it will i did the myself to escort,, takes a little time you have to drain all desiel from tank and pipe will let out loads of black smoke for a while the revs may be very low and wont be able to go fast but after the petrol washes out the tank itself should be fine
Hi,Did you start the vehicle after you put the gas in the tank? A drain plug is fitted underneath the tank, drain the tank of gas then fill it half way or more it may run a little sluggish at firs but the amount of diesel to gas ratio will mean it will do no harm.Hope this helps.
fill it right up with diesel and run as normal, you will suffer a hot start problem until all the gas is used up or refill when down to 1/2 tank.(the US army use petrol/gas in diesel for tanks in arctic conditions,(forget all the bullsh..about draining the system....if the army can use it so HAVE i when ive put gas in a diesel car(about 50 times, really)check out the canadian army tanks,if you don't believe me.also the UK army, and the chieftan is 60 MILLION QUID.
as long as you didnt put in more than 30% of the tank capacity, just fill to the top with diesel.then fill again when 1/2 empty.
you will have a hot start problem so try to let the engine cool before restarting and do not use it for stop/start trips until empty.also DO NOT use full throttle or climb steep hills in too high a gear.
just to clarify.....the us/canadian army use gas in the diesel tanks in arctic conditions to stop the fuel from freezing......there engines cost 1/2 $million ......
not good.....need to drain tank first and refill with correct fuel...then you will need to drain and flush the fuel lines and injector pump....bleed the pump and lines and injectors and cross your fingers....good luck
