I can see it try and can see the edge of the CD but that is as far as it goes then the radio comes on. I've try to coax it out with a thin blade but only cycles the player and the CD starts to play again. When I try again to eject it, it acts like it tries but won't come out. How can I get it out or take off the face of the CD player and try to remove it that way?
Do not try to take off the face of the cd player unless you have removed it from the dash completly.
look here for removal instructions...then you can replace the entire unit with a used one.

Prius 2004. Can see edge of CD but not eject, nor play.
This idea is from wiki.answers. It won't work if the CD was stuck
because it's damaged or warped or there are two CDs crammed
into the player, but it should work if the radio/player's computer brain
got confused and needs to be reset:
Power down the CAR. Hold the RADIO/CD power [PWR] key down
while powering up the CAR. Select "FM" then re-select "CD". Maybe
CD will be loaded and start to play (it did for me). Whether it starts
playing or not, press the eject button. The CD came right out.
