first check the factory wiring for your vehicle. sometimes the red wire is not the battery power. In my car the orange wire was battery power and red was the accessory power. also make sure the ground wire is attached securely. Then check your fuse box. I had a 10 amp fuse blow and because the aftermarket stereo drew more power than the factory one I needed to put in a larger fuse.
try disconnecting your battery ground for 30 seconds and see if your check engine light goes away. If not, i'm sorry to say but its gonna have to get scanned, it could be coincidentally so many things.
hi.there...i hope it's not too late to give you solution about your problem.... after i reading your problem i think the main problem is at your battery car condition...did you know every battery car have a life time even if you use a dry cell battery... if you already try to recharge it twice but it's only work only for two or three days..that's mean you must replace the battery with the new one.. just make sure when your repalce with new battery it must same type with the factory recomenned (ex: NS 70 ZL or else ). after your replace with new battery car with new one you can add car stereo tape that what you want but still you must be carefully with cable installation.just give it to the expert one. the life time for the car battery is usually (if you use standart application) is about 1- 2 years. more longer if you use dry cell battery the life time is around 3 yaers but the price is more expensive for the dry cell battery....
Firstly, try disconnecting both your battery connections, and with the battery disconnected, turn the ignition switch fully, 3- 4 times ( To just discharge the computers ) Then reconnect the battery cables (pos + ) first. This usually cures your problem.
