Have a pressure test done on the cooling system. Check for blown head gasket or cracked head

SOURCE: 1997 bmw z3 conv. 1.9 overheated, changed

hi jasso, I would recommend checking the water pump if you see no flow in the radiator. Make sure when you fill up the cooling system, that you fill it cold, and that the vent screw in the radiator is loose. fill system until fluid comes out the vent screw. tighten the screw, start the car and have someone run at 1500rpm and check for flow.also, make sure that you have your temp setting full hot and blower on middle speed so that you don't trap air in the heater core.

SOURCE: 2004 dodge ram 4.7 liter v8 overheating after

I have a 2004 4.7 dodge ram that the coolant gauge goes to 3/4 when towing my bass boat in the afternoons on hot days,I had the water pump replaced because it was wobbling at the pulley, covered under 7/70 power train.Acouple of weeks later towing again had the same problem, the turn on the heater and all is well after 2 to 3 minutes, replaced thermostat and saved and re-used coolant dealer put in and problem still there. At this point I contacted the techs at the dealer and talked with them and we all agreed radiator.Removed the radiator and took to rad shop and had it checked, found radiator plugging up,Now as to why.The antifreeze that chrysler uses is a HOAT type antifreeze, hybrid organic acid technology, with silicates and friction modifiers, this antifreeze CANNOT BE USED WITH TAP WATER OR WELL WATER OF ANY KIND,as it states in the owners manual.Only 1 dealer in this area apparently knows this but this is not the dealer that i took it to.The silicates in this antifreeze when mixed with the wrong water type will seperate and and become heavier and then start to gel and plug the passages in the radiator. This truck only has 46,443 miles on it and mostly used just to tow the boat.Hope this helps everyone else with this problem. Will be contacting Chrysler about this and the improper repairs that are being performed at their dealerships.Lester Atkins.tatkins8@cox.net.

SOURCE: my service engine light came on on my 2003 mini

If the light was flashing when it came on, then it means your engine is misfiring.

A solid light can mean anything from a loose/faulty gas cap to a transmission issue.

This light comes on when the computer detects a fault of some sort in its diagnostic tests. If it keeps detecting this issue, the light will remain on. If the light turns off, then it has detected that the issue may no longer be present.

In order to find out what the exact reason was for your light, You need to have your car computer scanned to retrieve the code that the computer would have stored when the light triggered. Most garages will do this free of charge. The code will tell you what may have caused the light to initially turn on.

No fluids are consumed on any vehicle

So why would you be adding, unless you have
a leak to repair

Have a repair shop educate you

2003 mini cooper AC compressor doesn't run

The compressor will last a lot longer. Your problem is a very slow Freon/refrigerant leak from when the compressor was replaced. If you wish, you could put in a canister or 2 of refrigerant from an auto parts store, as a kit with the re-fill line, to make it work for a while. But eventually you're going to want someone to find that leak and repair it. Best of luck my friend.

My 2003 mini cooper s overheated last night, any ideas what could b the problem?

I would guess that you are either out of antifreeze (coolant) or your thermostat has malfunctioned and is not letting the coolant through. I'd check my coolant level, if your coolant level is fine remove thermostat. After you remove the thermostat run your car like you normally would and if it doesnt overheat u have a thermostat issue. However if your coolant level is good I'd say just change thermostat because i'm 99% sure thats going to be your issue. Hope I was able to help you out. Good luck

Hi there my mini keeps overheating.i have changed the thermostat, radiator and still overheating. the car is not losing any water and there is no traces of water in the oil and no white smoke or water...

It could be signs of early head gasket failure. I had a subaroo do the same thing, ran great but would boil out water, then it finally blew. Had to replace the engine. It was cheaper than doing the heads. There was no signs of white smoke, no water in oil, just ran hot, some of the time. I don't know if a compression check would help, but what I would do is get it to a radiator shop, they will tell you more than anybody.
