Assuming you are talking about your wipers, I really don't understand how the regulator broke from a windshield. If it's just the stub where the wiper attaches, some are seperate from the regulator. The regulator itself is the linkage that is between the wiper motor and the wiper arm stubs. If stubs are part of the mechanim, it must be changed as a unit. Usually you can find instructions for this in inexpensive manyals like Haynes.

Either I was not sufficiently filled with coffee when I read your post, or you were a bit unclear but: Ok, drivers side door window....that makes a difference!!! No wiper on there, 'though sometimes I wish there was!!!
Regulator is attached to window by a stud that goes through a grommet. Providing that it has broken off there and the regulator itself has not broken, those parts can be obtained at any dealer. If the regulator itself has broken it's cheaper from a scrapyard. You may want to get a manual for detailed instructions but most times it can be figured out without too much trouble. Good luck!

OK>>>Brain lock time...Disregard previous post...just gave you info on jeep window. Likely there is something wrong with your regulator either at the motor or window end. You need to take it apart and look at it. The attachment point on the window itself is a metal track and unless the glass came out of the track it's difficult to imagine it is not still attached. So forget about the stud thing...the rest is valid though.
    Sorry...I'm usually sharper than that!!!

Removal of driver door panel

Well it sounds like you got it but if it still gives you any trouble try try putting 12 volt to one side of power window motor wire and ground the other wire. this will cause the window to either go up or down. By switching the wires the window will go in the other direction. this will tell you if the motor and regulator are working

Power window on 1999 pontiac grand prix gt 2 door driver side broke. motor still works but window wont stay up.

what I would recommend is that you will have to test the window actuator first. You will need to remove the door panel to get at the actuator. From there, just jump the actuator to see if the window goes up or down. Don't worry about which terminal is positive or negative, they are switched back and forth by the control switches.

How much will it cost to fix my drivers window? i recently bought a 200 pontiac grand am gt but the window on drivers side doesnt work - there is something in side of it holding it in place. do you know...

remove door panel inside car and check motor with test light.
check window regulator/track window rides on, for proper operation, check cable is not broke.
replace motor if bad buy a new one, replace regulator from junk yard, new is pricey. 250.00 dealer cost.
350-400 for the whole job :(

Pass. front window won't move.

I would check the power first to the motor.
IF the power to the motor is good. Then safe to say the motor/ regulator assembly should be changed.

Power window failure on 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT

Most likely the window motor brushes are sticking, but in any case the door panel must be removed to service the motor
