2003 Pontiac Grand Am, 2.2 liter
Hello - I have a 2003 Grand Am GT and to reset my "Change Oil" light, I turn the ignition key to the on position (without starting the car) and fully press the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. The "Change Oil" light will flash a few times then turn off.
Look in your car manual under changing oil and it will explain. You will have to open the drivers door and remove the panel for the fuses on that side. There is a red reset button near the top. Turn the ignition to on but do not start the car. Press and hold that for about ten seconds until the change oil light starts to blink. Then release the button and press it again and hold for about five seconds and it will go away.
Have you tried to remove the battery terminal from the battery and reset your elec system? That will work.
You must be careful removing battery terminals. Some vehicles render your sound system inoperative if power is removed. My son had to replace a battery in a VW Passat. When he completed the battery swap he had a message on player saying enter 4 digit code to play cd player. Their was a number to call to get this code and it cost $50. VW said it was a security anti-theft for the cd player.

Emmision Wiz was right! My Pontiac Grand Am had this problem and I had just had an oil change.
Did as instructed (turn egnition switch to the power position without turning the engine on and pushed the gas pedal all the way down three times, then turned the ignition switch back to off and then started the car and the light went off!) Thanks! :)
