The fuse pannel on the left side of the dash pull cover off and look at the diagram on the panel cover look for cluster its a 10 amp fuse. make sure your car is turned off pull out that fuse and replace it with a new one the old fuse will look like there is nothing wrong with it but it is faulty. then turn your car on and it should work just as it did before you pulled out your battery hope this solved your issue

I have a 2003 pontiac sunfire that runs hot and then is fine for a couple weeks . have put it in the shop several time .Any ideas?

Running hot would come down to a blocked radiator, a collapsed hose, a faulty temperature sensor or a cylinder head/gasket problem.

it could also be the gauge or even a bad earth on a temperature sensor.

Does your car exhibit any signs of overheating .. steam .. boiling radiator ... rough running?

It's strange that it runs fine for a couple of weeks and then runs hot. To me that suggests a temperature sensor/thermostat problem coupled with the outside air temperature.

What did the workshop suggest?

Why are my 2003 pontiac sunfire high beams working but low beams not working

Front wiring may need to be replaced, Wires are thin exposed to extreme heat. I used a used one, Dealer wanted $456 for new one. It is a pain, but gets easier by removing the 3 bolts that hold the windshield washer fluid, Got to disconnect a ground wire under the battery tray and the one for the windshield washer. Disconnect the main connector before pulling it out. Main connector is under the air filter box, which also needs to be removed. I'm in Oakville ontario, if I can help.

I can boost my car and it will run fine then I turn it off and it wont start again is it a battery that needs to be replaced

this sounds like a bad alternator, that is the job of the alternator besides powering your car after start up, the alternator should keep the battery charged, believe it or not cranking your car is the only job your battery has unless you just switch you ignition to accessory, once you start the car everything runs off the alternator , a quick test for the alternator is this , crank the car and very temporarily unhook the positive battery cable, if the car does'nt die after 2 or 3 seconds the the alternator is putting out a charge

Hello mcammdf.
To properly test the fuel gauge circuit you will need to check the purple wire at the connector to the fuel tank.
Run a wire from the purple wire at the connector to body ground. If the gauge moves when you ground it the circuit to that point is good.
These cars are noted for fuel gauge problems and most probably the issue will be the sending unit in the fuel tank.

You need to clean the battery posts and wire connectors at the battery. After that, check battery with a voltmeter (car running), should read between 13.5v and 15.5volts dc.

2003 Sundifre won't STAY running

The gauge problem sounds like the common issue on the 03-05 Sunfire instrument clusters where the stepper motors on the cluster's circuit board fail over time. It can be fixed, check out this page for more on how to get it repaired - Sunfire instrument cluster fix

Fuel Gauge bounces from F to E and stops nowhere in between.

Chk. all electrical connections and grounds by tank. If all chk. out ok then sender or flote in tank is bad.

No display for radio stations

if you know the fuse is ok.... unhook the battery for about ten minutes and hook it back up... if it is an anti-theft type radio... make sure you know the code first and how to enter it
