Question about 2007 Nissan Frontier SE Crew Cab

TPMS not working properly

The TPMS light starts blinking, then goes solid and the tire pressure is OK. I've had it to the dealer 2 times.... the 1st time they reset the computer.  The 2nd time, they found a faulty sensor and replaced it, and again reset the computer.  The problem is even worse now.... the light blinked, then came on solid 2 times within 35 miles after the sensor was replaced and approximatedly 18 times in 360 miles.  I might add... the light goes out immediately when I stop the vehicle.  I have had the tires checked and they show no leaks. The vehicle ( Nissan Frontier 07) has approx. 26600 miles on it.  Before this problem started on Jan 30.... they system was laways been on the money.  If the light came on.... the tire pressure was low.

    Thanks Kenny!  I had the truck in again today and they replaced another sensor.  We live in a small town, but I intend to do exactly as you suggested.

Take the truck to a tire shop that carries a nitrogen machine ,and let all the air out of tires and get them to fill them with nitrogen. this should take care of that problem.

How to reset tire pressure light


I fthe light is on solid than properly inflating the tires to the recommend tire pressure indicated on the sticker inside the drivers front door and then driving at speeds over 30mph for at least 15 minutes should turn the light off.

If the light is blinking there is a problem with the TPMS system. Special diagnostic tools will be needed in order to figure out the problem.

Step 1:

You could have a bad tpms sensor in one of the tires here's how to check it

Step 2:

Reading TPMS codes and clearing them
There is a simple procedure to perform a self diagnostic and clear the codes.

1) Turn IGN switch to ON.
2) Locate the TPMS warning check connector. It is a single loose wire with a connector located under the dash next to the steering column. It may be bundled with the OBDII diagnostic connector.
3) Using a suitable piece of bare wire inserted into the connector (a paperclip will do), momentarily ground the wire to the chassis.

NOTE: If you are uncomfortable doing this, then don't. You could damage your vehicle if the wrong wire is grounded.

Step 3:

4) The TPMS low tire pressure warning light will blink error codes as follows:

5sec. ON - 5sec. OFF
Long (1 sec) blink = First digit (2 blinks = 2)
Short (0.2 sec) blink = Second digit (ie 3 short blinks = 3)

There is a 2 second pause between multiple codes.The cycle will keep repeating starting with 5sec. ON

Codes:

15 - Front LH tire pressure drops to 26 psi or less.
16 - Front RH tire pressure drops to 26 psi or less.
17 - Rear RH tire pressure drops to 26 psi or less.
18 - Rear LH tire pressure drops to 26 psi or less.
21 - Data from front LH transmitter can not be receive.
22 - Data from front RH transmitter can not be receive.
23 - Data from Rear RH transmitter can not be receive.
24 - Data from Rear LH transmitter can not be receive.
31 - Checksum data from front LH transmitter is malfunctioning.
32 - Checksum data from front RH transmitter is malfunctioning.
33 - Checksum data from rear RH transmitter is malfunctioning.
34 - Checksum data from rear RH transmitter is malfunctioning.

5 short blinks - System is OK.

5) To clear the codes, turn the ignition OFF.

i would make them replace them for free... sounds like a problem with one of them and if it has happened since you bought it they should fix it.

TPMS - TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR WARNING LIGHT
NOTE: Tire pressure rises and falls depending on heat caused by vehicle's operation and the outside temperature. If outside temperature is low, the air inside the tire may cool, causing a lower tire inflation pressure. This may cause the low tire pressure warning light to illuminate.

When the tire pressure warning light comes on, immediately check the air pressure of all tires and adjust to the specified pressure. Make sure the warning light goes off. If the warning light stays on or flashes, there is a malfunction in the TPM system. See appropriate manufacturer service information.

Tire pressure light does not go off. how do i reset? also on the hatchback lift the button doesn't work. i can remove the inside cover and manually open it by manually sliding the switch. how do i...


All you have to do to reset the TPMS light is make sure all your tires are set around 35-38 psi then drive it a a couple miles and the light will turn off. If it is blinking then you have a sensor issue and you will have to take it to the dealer. The tire pressure warning light is yellow not red."Your vehicle has also been equipped with a TPMS malfunction indicator to indicate when the system is not operating properly. The TPMS malfunction indicator is combined with the low tire pressure telltale. When the system detects a malfunction, the telltale will flash for approximately one minute and then remain continuously illuminated. This sequence will continue upon subsequent vehicle start-ups as long as the malfunction exists. When the malfunction indicator is illuminated, the system may not be able to detect or signal low tire pressure as intended. TPMS malfunctions may occur for a variety of reasons, including the installation of replacement or alternate tires or wheels on the vehicle that prevent the TPMS from functioning properly. Always check the TPMS malfunction telltale after replacing one or more tires or wheels on your vehicle to ensure that the replacement or alternate tires and wheels allow"

TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM
The Tire Pressure Monitor System (TPMS) uses radio and sensor technology to check tire pressure levels. If your vehicle has this feature, sensors are mounted on each tire and wheel assembly, except the spare tire. The TPMS sensors monitor the air pressure in your vehicle's tires and transmit tire pressure readings to a receiver located in the vehicle.

The TPMS is designed to alert the driver, if a low tire pressure condition exists. This system also allows the driver to check tire pressure levels using the Driver Information Center (DIC).

When a low tire pressure condition is detected, the TPMS displays the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" warning message on the DIC, and at the same time illuminates the low tire pressure warning symbol.

You may notice, during cooler weather conditions, that the tire pressure monitor light, located on the instrument panel cluster, and the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" message will appear when the vehicle is first started and then turn off as you start to drive the vehicle. This could be an early indicator that the tire pressures are getting low and need to be inflated to the proper pressure.

Each tire, including the spare (if provided), should be checked monthly when cold and inflated to the inflation pressure recommended by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should determine the proper inflation pressure for those tires.)

As an added safety feature, your vehicle has been equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that illuminates a low tire pressure telltale when one or more of your tires is significantly under-inflated.

Accordingly, when the low tire pressure telltale illuminates, you should stop and check your tires as soon as possible, and inflate them to the proper pressure. Driving on a significantly under-inflated tire causes the tire to overheat and can lead to tire failure. Under-inflation also reduces fuel efficiency and tire tread life, and may affect the vehicle's handling and stopping ability.

Please note that the TPMS is not a substitute for proper tire maintenance, and it is the driver's responsibility to maintain correct tire pressure, even if under-inflation has not reached the level to trigger illumination of the TPMS low tire pressure telltale.

The "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" warning message and low tire pressure light (telltale) will appear at each ignition cycle until the tires are inflated to the correct inflation pressure.

The Tire and Loading Information label (tire information placard) shows the size of your vehicle's original tires and the correct inflation pressure for your vehicle's tires when they are cold.

Your vehicle's TPMS can alert you about a low tire pressure condition but it does not replace normal tire maintenance.

NOTICE: Do not use a tire sealant if your vehicle has Tire Pressure Monitors. The liquid sealant can damage the tire pressure monitor sensors.

RESETTING THE TPMS IDENTIFICATION CODES
Each TPMS sensor has a unique identification code. Any time you rotate your vehicle's tires or replace one or more of the TPMS sensors, the identification codes will need to be matched to the new tire/wheel position. Each tire/wheel position is matched to a sensor, by increasing or decreasing the tire's air pressure. The sensors are matched to the tire/wheel positions in the following order: LF TIRE (left front tire on the driver's side of the vehicle), RF TIRE (right front tire on the passengers side of the vehicle), RR TIRE (right rear tire on the passengers side of the vehicle), and LR TIRE (left rear tire on the driver's side of the vehicle).

You will have one minute to match the first tire/wheel position, and five minutes overall to match all four tire/wheel positions. If it takes longer than one minute, to match the first tire and wheel, or more than five minutes to match all four tire and wheel positions the matching process stops and you will need to start over.

The TPMS sensor matching process is outlined below:
  1. Set the parking brake.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to "RUN" with the engine off.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch from "OFF" to the parking lamps setting four times within three seconds. A double horn chirp will sound and the TPMS low tire warning light will begin to flash. The double horn chirp and flashing TPMS warning light indicate that the TPMS matching process has started. The TPMS warning light should continue flashing throughout the matching procedure. The "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR" message will be displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC).
  4. Start with the driver's side front tire.
  5. Remove the valve cap from the valve cap stem. Activate the TPMS sensor by increasing or decreasing the tire's air pressure for 10 seconds, then stop and listen for a single horn chirp. The single horn chirp should sound within 15 seconds, confirming that the sensor identification code has been matched to this tire and wheel position. If you do not hear the confirming single horn chirp, you will need to start over with Step 1. To let air-pressure out of a tire you can use the pointed end of the valve cap, a pencil-style air pressure gage or a key.
  6. Proceed to the passenger's side front tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
  7. Proceed to the passenger's side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
  8. Proceed to the driver's side rear tire, and repeat the procedure in Step 5.
  9. After hearing the confirming horn chirp for the left rear tire, check to see if the TPMS warning light is still flashing. If it is, turn the ignition switch to LOCK to exit the sensor matching process. If the TPMS warning light is not flashing, the five minute time limit has passed and you will need to start the process over beginning with Step 1.
  10. Set all four tires to the recommended air pressure level as indicated on the Tire and Loading Information label.
  11. Put the valve caps back on the valve stems. The spare tire does not have a TPMS sensor. If you replace one of the road tires with the spare, the "CHECK TIRE PRESSURE" message will be displayed on the DIC screen. This message should go off once you re-install the road tire containing the TPMS sensor. The "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR" message is displayed when the TPMS is malfunctioning. One or more missing or inoperable TPMS sensors will cause the service tire monitor message to be displayed.

I have TPMS on 2009 Nissan Maxima. Can't find where I can check my tire pressure through the TPMS. Manual says I can but I can't find where to. PLEASE HELP!!!


just get a tire pressure gauge and check it they are usually going off in cold weather like this. on the drivers side door it will tell you what pressure you need.

also if the light is blinkin when you start your car then goes solid you have a tpms sensor issue that needs to be addressed by a dealer because it lost connection.

Reset low tire light


If your TPMS light is lit solid, air your tires to proper pressure (32-35psi) then drive 1/4 mile and it will reset itself.

If your tire pressure light is FLASHING, you have a fault in the TPMS system and require a trip to a shop to find out what is wrong.

2007 yukon tpms keeps blinking to check tire pressure


The TPMS is a pain in the you know what. Have you changed tire sizes? There could be a bad sensor and may need replaced. We continually get problems all the time with the TPMS. We have reset then they reset again.

Low tire pressure light won't stay off after proper reset.


Some newer Toyota vehicles have a sensor in the spare tire. Tires loose air over time naturally. I would check out the spare.
When did this TPS light start coming on?
Have you had new tires put on, or had a flat repair done before the light?
