Question about 2007 Chevrolet Equinox LS New Cars
Normally when any door is opened the raido will turn off. Now the driver door does not turn off the radio when opened....while all of the other doors will turn the radio off when any one of them is opend.
Also...now when leaving key in ignition after turning the vehicle off and opening the door.....no alarm sounds. Before an alarm always sounded.
Actually this is the answer, well at least it fixed my problem and for others reading before you go to dealer or buy replacement anything check some wires first.. first my unlock button didnt work driver side, then driver side window quit working and then radio wouldnt shut off..the equinox doesnt have a push button sensor its inside the hinges so its not the sensor...if you open your driver side door and in the jam look for the rubber boot....loosen the rubber boot from the door and from the frame of the car so that you can examine the wires inside there....to my surprise 4 of my wires were ripped in half and 2 of them had previously had an attempt to repair with crimps...so check your wires before you do anything else if your having any of the problems that I was having! Hope this helps, no where did I find the answer I was looking for on any forum, hopefully this is the problem and its a quick fix, just seems like it may be a problem that will continue to happen!

I can tell you how to fix in but to do so you have to remove interior door panel and remove door lock actuator from door (to do so look on line to find instructions for your particular model). Depending on your model you will have 3-4 sets wires unplugged in to door lock actuator, unplug and remove lock actuator completely. On side of actuator you will see a set of white cam teeth (sensor switch) meshed with black teeth (motor), problem is white teeth aren't traveling completely so car doesn't know door has been opened. Separate two halves (two torx) screws, depending on your model you may also have large brass band, if so unclip first, you don't need to fully separate both halves, switch and motor teeth, just enough to be able to move white teeth all the way to the fully engaged position, as far as it will go and still mate with black teeth, then reassemble, interlock both halves, white gears/teeth with black teeth. [This normally happens when a new door lock actuator is installed/replaced and teeth aren't properly mated, especially if only motor half of switch assembly is replaced] You can test function without reinstalling door panel, through the open window by connecting all cables, rods, plug in door switches, etc: close door, reach in through window turn car on, then off, open door with handle, if teeth are properly aligned it will work, if not repeat/ realign teeth.

The button (its like a little plunger switch) that actuates the dome light also triggers the keys in ignition while door is open alarm. also the radio etc. try finding that button...(usually inside the doorframe ) and press it really fast and release repeatedly to loosen up some possible rust...if that doesn't work. then replacing that simple switch may be needed...it should be easy to replace as it has a simple connector after you pull it out and disconnect it. Ask the dealership for a replacement if its out of warranty. hope this helps.

I would suspect a loose or broken sensor on the drivers door if you look on the body around the drivers door you will see a rubber "plug" that will push in and out undo that it may just need freeing up hope this helps otherwise check your fuses regards Jim
